occasional weekend or evening hours required; occasional on-call responsibilities.\nWork Location: On Campus\nHourly Rate: $40.57-$45.14\nEssential Job Duties:\nLow & Medium Voltage Systems (120V - 480V):\nMaintain and install electrical wiring at 120-240V and 277-480V levels.\nInstall new branch circuit wiring and connect electrical wiring in remodeling applications.\nRepair and replace light ballasts, lamps, and fixtures; upgrade to energy-efficient lighting.\nMaintain outdoor building, walkway, and street lighting.\nConnect or disconnect wiring and assist in electric motor installation, repair, or\nreplacement.\n\nControls & Equipment Maintenance:\nDiagnose, repair, maintain, and install control circuits for HVAC systems, building automation systems (BAS), fire alarm systems, and food service equipment.\nRepair or replace motor starters and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) as needed.\nMaintain control circuits across various process and mechanical equipment.\n\nHigh-Voltage Systems & Distribution (up to 13,800V):\nPerform visual inspections and routine maintenance of high-voltage (up to 13,800V) switchgear in compliance with NFPA 70E safety standards.\nMaintain and clean transformer vaults and complete monthly high-voltage transformer inspections.\nAssist in occasional planned shutdowns of 13,800-volt switchgear for repairs, cleaning, testing, and inspections.\n\nGeneral & Institutional Support:Perform other departmental and campus support tasks, including assisting with campus event setup.\nPerform periodic metal fabrication and welding.\nSupport, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community.\nComplete and meet deadlines for required training and the annual performance management cycle.\nDemonstrate basic skills in using standard office equipment and computer applications (including email, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software) or willingness to learn.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\n\nSupervision Received and Exercised:\nReports to the Director of Utilities and Energy Management. \nThis position does not supervise staff or students.\nRequired Qualifications:\n Education:High School Diploma or equivalent \nCurrent Minnesota Class A Journeyworker Electrician license (or Master Electrician license)\nMust maintain a valid driver’s license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization criteria with a satisfactory driving record\n\nExperience:1+ years of experience at a Journeyworker or Master Electrician level.\nAbility to work independently or with minimal supervision.\nAbility to interact effectively within a diverse community.\nAbility to work in confined spaces and utility tunnels.\nDemonstrated skill in the use of standard tools, equipment, and testing instruments of the electrical trade.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nEducation: Completion of an accredited Trade School or formal Electrical Apprenticeship program.\n Experience:3+ years of experience at the Journeyworker or Master Electrician level.\nKnowledge of heating, cooling, and building automation systems (BAS).\nKnowledge of utility locate equipment and underground wiring tracing.\nKnowledge of commercial fire alarm system operation, testing, and maintenance.\nFamiliarity with NFPA 70E standards for electrical safety in the workplace.\n\nPrerequisites:\nEmployment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check which may include criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, a motor vehicle check, verification of DOT certification, a credit check, employment eligibility verification, and/or a pre-employment physical.
