Our technology starts with you.\nYOUR ROLE\nThe Automation Technician is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing automation equipment and control systems to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. This role includes working with mechanical, electrical, and software-related systems to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimal downtime.\nKey Responsibilities\nInstall, configure, and optimize automation equipment and control systems.\n\nTroubleshoot and repair issues related to automation equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and software malfunctions.\nPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment to avoid breakdowns and maintain performance.\nProgram and configure automation devices, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), robotic systems, and other control platforms.\nUpdate software and firmware as required to improve system functionality and support new manufacturing requirements.\nTest automated systems to ensure proper operation, efficiency, and compliance with performance standards.\nCalibrate sensors, actuators, and related components to ensure accurate measurements and reliable operation.\nMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, system performance, downtime, and incidents.\nProvide periodic updates on system efficiency, downtime, and technical issues encountered.\nCollaborate with internal teams and external vendors to support troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical and software-related issues.\nQualifications and Experience\nDiploma in Automation Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.\nKnowledge of automation software and control systems, including PLCs and HMIs.\nStrong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, including the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.\nSolid understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial equipment.\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve automation-related issues effectively.\nGood communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with automation, operations, DIT, and vendor teams.\nST is proud to be one of the 17 companies certified as a 2025 Global Top Employer and the first and only semiconductor company to achieve this distinction.
