Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this individual will take ownership of the accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting while building and strengthening the processes and infrastructure needed to support the company's continued growth.\nThis is an opportunity for a driven accounting professional to take a leadership role in a growing organization, with significant autonomy to improve existing processes, implement new procedures, and establish best practices across the accounting function. The Controller will oversee a team of three, providing leadership, mentorship, and direction while remaining actively involved in day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, and financial statement preparation. The ideal candidate will bring experience managing complex, preferably multi-entity accounting environments, along with exposure to audits and the ability to develop scalable processes and controls. As Stable Rock continues to grow, this individual will have the opportunity to expand the accounting team and take on additional responsibilities, playing a meaningful role in shaping the company's financial infrastructure.\nKey Responsibilities:\nAccounting Leadership & Oversight: Own and lead the accounting function, overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent financial reporting across the organization.\n\nTeam Management & Development: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of three accounting professionals, establishing clear expectations, promoting accountability, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Evaluate opportunities to expand the team as the business grows.\n\nFinancial Reporting: Lead the preparation, review, and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuing accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.\n\nProcess Development & Optimization: Build, implement, and refine accounting policies, procedures, and workflows to improve efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and establish scalable processes to support future growth.\n\nMulti-Entity Accounting: Oversee accounting operations across multiple entities, including intercompany transactions, reconciliations, consolidations, and entity-level financial reporting.\n\nMonth-End & Year-End Close: Own and continually improve the month-end and year-end close processes, establishing timelines, improving efficiencies, and ensuring timely and accurate completion.\n\nInternal Controls & Compliance: Develop and maintain appropriate accounting controls and procedures, ensuring the integrity of financial information and adherence to applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.\n\nAudit Management: Coordinate and support external audits, including preparation of supporting schedules, management of audit requests, and collaboration with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient process.\n\nFinancial Planning & Collaboration: Partner closely with the Director of Finance and other internal stakeholders to provide financial insights, support business initiatives, and improve financial visibility across the organization.\n\nSystems & Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to leverage accounting systems, technology, and automation to streamline workflows, reduce manual processes, and enhance reporting capabilities.\n\nStrategic Growth: Help build the accounting infrastructure necessary to support Stable Rock's continued expansion, taking on broader responsibilities and helping scale the function as business needs evolve.\n\nQualifications, Skills, and Experience:\nEducation:\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required\n\nCPA preferred not required\n\nExperience: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager or in a similar leadership role\nSkills:\nStrong technical accounting knowledge, including financial reporting and GAAP.\n\nDemonstrated ability to build, implement, and improve accounting processes and procedures in a developing organization.\n\nStrong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor, develop, and hold team members accountable.\n\nHands-on approach with the ability to balance strategic oversight with day-to-day accounting responsibilities.\n\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.\n\nAbility to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.\n\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.\n\nHigh degree of ownership, accountability, initiative, and sound judgment.\n\nAbility to identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical, scalable solutions.\n\nSoftware and Technology: Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, cloud-based accounting and ERP systems (QuickBooks Online preferred) and financial reporting, account reconciliation and general ledger tools.\nWhy Stable Rock:\nStable Rock is built for professionals who want more than a traditional support role.
