The role owns each feature from start to finish: understanding the business need, planning how it fits across the front end, backend, and data layer, and seeing it through testing and release.\nWho You Are\nA developer who takes full ownership of the features they deliver and remains the point of reference for them long after release \nComfortable working in unfamiliar areas of the system, approaching new domains, layers and tools with curiosity rather than hesitation \nAttentive to how software behaves once it is live, writing code that is maintainable, observable and straightforward to troubleshoot under production conditions \nSomeone who uses AI coding tools with discipline, treating agents as assistants to be directed and verified, with clear limits on what they can access \nReceptive to feedback and generous with knowledge, contributing to a team where everyone supports one another across the stack \nInclined to understand the business problem first, asking the questions needed to clarify a requirement before deciding how to build it\nWork Type\nLocation: Toronto, ON (Hybrid, 3 days per week) \nVacancy Type: This role is a newly created position \nRequirements\nWhat You’ll Do\nOwn product features end-to-end, analyzing requirements with stakeholders, designing the approach across the front end, backend, and data layer, and carrying the work through testing and release \nDivide your time across the full stack, with the greater share on backend services and significant, ongoing involvement in front-end development \nDesign, build, and maintain Python services and APIs using FastAPI within a microservices architecture hosted on Azure \nDevelop maintainable user interfaces in React and TypeScript that present financial data and reporting to end users \nWork within complex PostgreSQL data schemas, applying sound practices for data integrity and the protection of personally identifiable information \nBuild and maintain features that aggregate data from overnight and real-time feeds across multiple financial systems into end-user reporting \nInvestigate and resolve data issues in production, including identifying and optimizing slow-running queries \nBuild logging and maintainability into your applications so that critical production systems can be monitored and troubleshot effectively \nDirect AI coding agents such as Claude through implementation, use GitHub Copilot within code review, and configure your own agent tooling within the established architecture\n⭐ What We’re Looking For\n3+ years of professional software development experience, with a track record of delivering production features \nSolid Python backend experience with FastAPI or a comparable web framework, including RESTful API design, or strong backend experience in C#/.NET and readiness to work in Python \nHands-on experience building production interfaces with React and TypeScript \nStrong SQL skills and relational database experience, ideally with PostgreSQL, including data modeling, query analysis, and performance tuning \nA sound understanding of microservices architecture and of how services, data feeds and integrations interact in a production system \nPractical experience with AI coding assistants or agents such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or Cursor, including providing context, reviewing generated code and verifying results, or clear readiness to adopt them quickly \nProficiency with Git and modern delivery practices, including code review and automated testing \nThe ability to translate business requirements into a clear implementation plan and to explain reasoning and trade-offs to technical and non-technical colleagues \nNice to have:\nExperience in FinTech, wealth management or portfolio management software \nExperience with Azure services and CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps \nExperience with production monitoring, log analytics, or support of business-critical systems\nWhat Makes This Role Exciting\nEnd-to-End Ownership: You’ll take each feature from the first requirements conversation to release, with responsibility across the whole system rather than a single layer \nComplex Financial Data: The work draws on data from many financial systems, arriving both overnight and in real time \nFreedom in Tooling: There are no restrictions on AI tools, and new ones are evaluated as soon as they appear \nA Growing Scope: Developers are increasingly involved in how their work is deployed, monitored, and supported, giving you room to grow beyond writing code \nBenefits\nBase Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 \nPaid Time Off: Competitive vacation and personal days to maintain a healthy work-life balance \nHealth Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision benefits to support your overall well-being \nReady for a change?
