In this role, you’ll support the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, investigating variances, and maintaining accurate financial records. You’ll work closely with teams across Finance and the broader business while helping document and improve accounting processes through thoughtful use of technology and automation. \nThis is an exciting opportunity to play a hands-on role in the close process from day one, while helping improve how the team manages accruals, international payroll, process documentation, and accounting automation.\nStackAdapt is a Remote First company, we are open to candidates located anywhere in Canada. You will report directly to the Senior Manager, Controllership. \nWhat You'll Be Doing:\nPrepare and post month-end journal entries, including accruals related to marketing, commissions, employee benefits, and payroll.\nComplete balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve reconciling items.\nPerform monthly fluctuation analysis across assigned balance sheet and P&L accounts, providing clear explanations for significant variances.\nReview financial information and supporting documentation from cross-functional teams to validate the accuracy and completeness of accounting records.\nMaintain organized, well-supported workpapers for internal and external audit requests.\nDocument accounting processes and procedures from end to end to improve consistency and knowledge sharing.\nIdentify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, including through the thoughtful use of AI and automation tools.\nCollaborate with Finance and cross-functional partners on accruals, payroll, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives.\nLearn and navigate accounting systems such as NetSuite, FloQast, and Zip.\nParticipate in accounting projects and other ad hoc initiatives as needed. \nWhat You'll Bring to the Table\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\n4+ years of professional accounting experience, including exposure to month-end close activities.\nFoundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements.\nExperience preparing journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, or variance analyses.\nStrong attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines during a time-sensitive close process.\nA structured, systems-oriented approach to breaking down and documenting processes.\nCuriosity and willingness to question the status quo and identify opportunities for improvement.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills.\nDesignated CPA or working towards obtaining your designation.\nExperience with NetSuite, FloQast, Zip, or another ERP or accounting system is an asset.\nExperience using AI or automation tools to improve accounting processes is an asset.\nThe compensation range listed for this role reflects the expected base salary for candidates located in the posting country based on a global rate. It is informed by market data and the approved budget for this position. StackAdapt maintains different compensation ranges for roles across other countries and regions, and final offers will be aligned to the candidate’s current location. We do not ask candidates about current or prior salary history, and we will not use such information, if volunteered, in setting an offer.\nThis range represents base salary only.
