You'll work across the full development lifecycle, from database design and backend services to frontend interfaces, turning business requirements into functional, reliable software.\nThis isn't just a role where you'll be handed a list of tickets and expected to code. You'll work directly with internal teams to understand their processes, identify problems worth solving, and develop practical solutions that make everyday work easier and more efficient.\nWe also embrace AI-powered development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and GitHub Copilot to accelerate software development. You don't need to write every line of code from scratch, but you must understand the code you're working with, validate AI-generated output, troubleshoot issues, and take responsibility for the quality of what you deliver.\nWe're looking for someone with strong development fundamentals, a practical problem-solving mindset, and the confidence to figure things out independently. If you enjoy building useful applications, improving existing systems, and using modern development tools to work smarter, we'd love to meet you.\nWhat You'll Do\nYou'll be the kind of person who:\nFull-Stack Application Development\nBuild, enhance, and maintain internal web applications across the database, backend, and frontend layers.\nDevelop responsive and user-friendly interfaces using React or other modern frontend frameworks.\nBuild backend services and application logic using Node.js, Express, NestJS, or similar frameworks.\nTranslate business requirements into functional software that addresses real operational needs.\nImprove existing features and contribute to the ongoing development of our internal platform. \nAI-Assisted Development\nUse AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot to accelerate development and improve productivity.\nReview, understand, test, and validate AI-generated code before incorporating it into applications.\nIdentify incorrect assumptions, potential bugs, security concerns, and inefficient implementations in generated code.\nUse AI tools to support debugging, code improvement, documentation, and technical problem-solving.\nApply sound engineering judgement to ensure that development speed does not compromise code quality, reliability, or maintainability.\nBackend Development & API Integration\nDevelop and maintain backend services, application logic, and REST APIs.\nIntegrate external platforms, APIs, and third-party services into internal applications.\nImplement appropriate error handling, data validation, and integration logic to ensure reliable application behaviour.\nTroubleshoot API issues and resolve problems involving data exchange between systems.\nContribute to the design and maintenance of reusable backend components and services.\nDatabase Management & Development\nWork with PostgreSQL and other structured databases to design and maintain data structures.\nWrite, optimise, and troubleshoot SQL queries to support application functionality and reporting requirements.\nManage database changes, including schema updates and data migrations.\nEnsure data integrity, consistency, and appropriate handling of application data.\nIdentify and address database-related performance issues as applications evolve.\nDebugging, Testing & Code Quality\nInvestigate and resolve bugs, technical issues, and unexpected application behaviour.\nImprove existing code to enhance readability, maintainability, performance, and reliability.\nTest features and validate changes before deployment to minimise disruptions.\nDocument important technical decisions, implementation details, and troubleshooting procedures.\nCollaborate with other developers through Git, version control, and code reviews.\nHelp maintain consistent development standards and best practices across the internal platform.\nStakeholder Collaboration & Continuous Improvement\nWork directly with internal teams to understand business processes, pain points, and technical requirements.\nTranslate operational challenges into practical software solutions.\nCommunicate technical concepts and implementation considerations clearly to non-technical stakeholders.\nIdentify opportunities to improve existing applications, automate manual tasks, and streamline workflows.\nTake ownership of assigned deliverables from initial requirements through development, testing, and ongoing improvement.\nRequirements\nWhat You Bring\nWe're looking for someone with:\nAt least 2 years of experience in software development, preferably building and maintaining web applications.\nStrong JavaScript or TypeScript programming skills.\nExperience building backend services using Node.js, Express, NestJS, or similar frameworks.\nExperience developing frontend applications using React or another modern frontend framework.\nWorking knowledge of SQL and relational databases, with experience using other structured databases also considered.\nExperience consuming REST APIs and integrating external platforms or services.\nFamiliarity with Git, version control, and working with existing codebases.\nHands-on experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or GitHub Copilot.\nAbility to review and validate AI-generated code rather than relying on generated output without understanding it.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues independently.\nAbility to take ownership of technical deliverables and follow through on implementation.\nGood written and verbal communication skills in English.\nWillingness to learn new technologies, explore unfamiliar codebases, and adapt to evolving development requirements.\nYou don't need to know every technology in our stack. We value strong engineering fundamentals, practical problem-solving, sound technical judgement, and the ability to learn quickly.
