The role will support Australian-based project teams delivering engineering solutions across a diverse range of brownfield projects.\nPurpose of the Role\n\nWe require an experienced Piping Engineer to provide engineering design, analysis and documentation support toAustralian lead engineers.\nThe role is focused on technical delivery rather than project management. Australian engineers will retain responsibility for client management, project management and engineering sign-off.\nTypical Work\n\nThe piping engineer will support projects involving piping, pressure vessels and tanks including:\nBrownfield plant modifications and upgrades.\nDesign and engineering of new systems\nServiceability and maintenance of ageing systems\nEngineering analysis of repairs\nPreparation of engineering reports, specifications and scopes of work.\nReviewing and checking engineering drawings and models.\nCollaboration with Australian engineers, designers and project managers.\nMost work will be associated with mining, minerals processing and heavy industrial facilities.\nRequirements\nWhat You Bring:\n\nWe're looking for someone who:\nHolds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar. \nHas experience as a consulting engineer working on multiple jobs each with a specific budget and schedule.\nHas experience with projects in mining, minerals processing, power generation or heavy industrial environments.\nHas demonstrated experience applying ASME and API standards.\nCan prepare detailed piping layouts, equipment plot plans, and 3D models using specialized computer-aided design tools.\nCan perform piping and tank stress analysis and flexibility evaluations to verify structural integrity under operating temperatures and pressures.\nExperience with piping, pressure vessel, and tank calculations and strong knowledge of the relevant engineering principles.\nCan select and document appropriate piping materials, valves, supports, and inline components based on process fluid characteristics and operating conditions.\nCan review and verify isometric drawings, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and civil-structural interface documents.\nCan communicate design requirements with cross-functional discipline teams.\nCan prepare clear technical reports and engineering documentation.\nUnderstand engineering risk assessment and safe design principles.\nDesirable Experience (Optional)\n\nExperience working on Australian mining and industrial projects.\nFamiliarity with AS 1210, AS 4041, AS 3788 and AS/NZS 1200\nFamiliarity with ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII Div 1, and API510/570/650\nSoftware and Systems\n\nPreference will be given to an engineer with experience using:\nAutoCAD Plant 3D or Solidworks\nPiping stress analysis software Caesar II, or AutoPIPE\nPressure vessel analysis software Compress\nNavisworks (or similar)\nSharepoint\nThe ability to work efficiently within a 3D model-based design environment is important.\nAttributes\n\nExcellent analytical problem-solving skills with high attention to detail in engineering calculations and drawing reviews.\nProfessional level communication in English, written and verbal.\nComfortable asking questions to confirm understanding.\nConfident enough to push-back if they can see a problem with instructions given.\nCare enough about their workplace to make suggestions if they can see a better way to do things.\nWhat Success Looks Like\n\nWithin the first 12 months, the successful engineer will:\nBe producing engineering calculations, reports and technical documentation that require minimal rework prior to review. (KPI: 95% acceptance rate).\nBe a productive contributor within FIELD's engineering, quality and document control processes.\nProduce piping and mechanical engineering deliverables within agreed timeframes. (KPI: 90% on time delivery)\nDemonstrate sound engineering judgement when assessing technical risks and design issues.\nWork effectively with Australian engineers and designers in a remote team environment.
