Platform Support Engineer

Key Responsibilities :

- Provide L2/L3 production support for the Alation Data Catalog platform.

- Monitor the Alation platform for availability, performance, and operational issues.

- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to metadata ingestion, cataloging, data sources, APIs, and integrations.

- Manage and support metadata extraction and synchronization from various enterprise data sources.

- Investigate and resolve failed or incomplete metadata ingestion jobs.

- Support configuration and administration of Alation connectors and data source integrations.

- Analyze platform logs and troubleshoot application, integration, and connectivity issues.

- Work with database, cloud, infrastructure, and data engineering teams to resolve cross-platform issues.

- Support Alation upgrades, patches, configuration changes, and environment maintenance.

- Assist with user access, permissions, roles, groups, and platform administration.

- Monitor data catalog health and ensure metadata remains accurate, complete, and up to date.

- Support data stewards and business users with catalog, search, lineage, glossary, and metadata-related queries.

- Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.

- Perform root-cause analysis for recurring platform and integration issues.

- Create and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, and knowledge-base articles.

- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive support and monitoring activities.

- Work with stakeholders to improve data discoverability, data governance, and catalog adoption.

- Participate in rotational support shifts and provide timely resolution of production issues.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 5-12 years of overall IT experience, with relevant experience supporting enterprise data platforms.

- Hands-on experience with Alation Data Catalog / Alation Platform.

- Strong understanding of data cataloging, metadata management, data governance, and data discovery.

- Experience configuring and troubleshooting Alation data source connectors.

- Experience troubleshooting metadata extraction, ingestion, and synchronization issues.

- Good understanding of SQL and relational databases.

- Familiarity with APIs and integration concepts, preferably REST APIs.

- Experience with application/platform monitoring and log analysis.

- Good understanding of enterprise data environments and data integration concepts.

- Experience working with incident, problem, and change management processes.

- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

- Ability to work effectively with data engineers, data stewards, application teams, and business stakeholders.
