You’ll create trusted, accessible and high-quality data systems that empower teams across the business to make better decisions, faster.\nWorking closely with engineers, product managers, analysts and stakeholders, you’ll solve complex problems, improve critical systems and create leverage for others. You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our data platform while contributing to products and experiences used by hundreds of thousands of customers.\nWe work in a hybrid model, spending three days a week in our beautiful, dog-friendly Sydney office.\nWhat success looks like\nWithin your first year, you’ll have:\nBuilt and evolved reliable, scalable data pipelines that become foundational to how Stake operates and makes decisions\nIncreased trust in data across the business by improving quality, observability, governance and documentation\nEnabled product, operations and commercial teams to move faster through self-service data capabilities and thoughtfully designed datasets\nPartnered closely with engineers and analysts to define and implement scalable data models that support critical business outcomes\nImproved the performance, efficiency and maintainability of our data platform as customer and data volumes continue to grow\nHelped establish best practices for data engineering, modelling, testing and platform reliability\nInfluenced how Stake measures success by creating robust datasets and metrics that inform strategic decision-making\nBecome a trusted technical partner across the business, known for solving complex problems with clarity, pragmatism and impact\nYou’ll thrive here if…\nYou have strong experience building and maintaining modern data platforms, pipelines and data products in production environments\nYou care deeply about data quality, reliability and creating systems other teams can depend on\nYou’re comfortable working across the data stack, from ingestion and transformation through to modelling and consumption\nYou combine strong technical judgement with a practical mindset, balancing long-term platform health with business needs\nYou communicate clearly, simplify complexity and enjoy partnering with people across technical and non-technical teams\nYou take ownership, move with urgency and enjoy solving problems that have meaningful customer and business impact\nTechnical skills\nExperience with modern data technologies on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery, Cloud Storage and Dataflow\nStrong proficiency in SQL and data manipulation\nWorking knowledge of Python or another programming language\nExperience with data warehousing and data modelling concepts\nUnderstanding of data governance principles and best practices\nExperience with reporting and visualisation tools, preferably Metabase\nA desire to stay up to date with developments across GCP and emerging technologies, including AI\nWorking knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is ideal, but not essential\nBonus if you’ve…\nWorked in fintech, financial services or another highly regulated industry\nBuilt data platforms supporting product analytics, experimentation or customer-facing products\nWorked with modern cloud data platforms such as BigQuery\nContributed to data governance, lineage or observability initiatives at scale\nHelped establish engineering standards, tooling or platform capabilities for growing teams\nBenefits of working at Stake\nAt Stake, you’ll have the autonomy to make an impact while learning from some of the best people in the industry.
