The result is a platform that can underwrite what others can’t and operate with far less friction.\nThe role\nStand writes home insurance for the properties most exposed to wildfire and hurricane risk, and we underwrite it with science and engineering instead of a spreadsheet and a guess. The Mitigation Engineer owns the Stand Protection Plan end-to-end for every inspected property. This includes making the vegetation, structure, and hazard calls, shipping an accurate, defensible plan, and running the Protection Review call that gets the homeowner to yes.\nWhat you will do:\nOwn the Stand Protection Plan for each inspected property. Walk homeowners and brokers through the plan, handle pushback, and get to a real yes.\n\nHelp shape what gets automated. Use what you see in the queue and on calls to flag rules that misfire and recommend which calls should be automated as we enter new markets.\n\nWhat we're looking for:\n2-5 years in consulting, banking, big tech, or another analytically rigorous environment.\n\nPrecision at volume: your accuracy holds as the pace rises and the queue gets deep.\n\nClient-facing nerve: you can run a call, handle pushback, and get to a real yes without giving away scope that matters.\n\nJudgment you can defend in writing: you can say clearly which requirements actually protect a home and why.\n\nSpeed in a new tool: productive within days and opinionated about it within a week.\n\nClear, empathetic communication: you explain requirements and tradeoffs to non-technical people plainly.\n\nNice-to-Haves:\nProperty, construction, or home-inspection background\n\nWildfire science, defensible space, or home-hardening knowledge\n\nGIS or aerial / imagery analysis experience\n\nInsurance experience, especially underwriting or risk assessment\n\nHigh-volume, accuracy-critical production work against a defined quality bar\n\nThis is not the right seat if you\nNeed a defined lane, a playbook, or heavy structure.\n\nOnly know how to work a queue you are handed.\n\nYou want the rules handed to you.
