Continuous Improvement Coordinator - 1st shift

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for supporting the transition to Lean/SPS Manufacturing at the facility level. Primary responsibility is to ensure there is an effective transformation from traditional batch manufacturing to Lean/SPS Manufacturing by removing waste from the value stream and improving throughput to develop the future state value stream map for the facility. The Continuous Improvement Coordinator will coordinate these activities with the Continuous Improvement Manager.

Essential Functions:

· Support initiatives that integrate Lean/SPS throughout the facility, using continuous improvement (CI) tools such as; kaizen events, 5S, Six-Sigma, “standard work”, OEE, mistake proofing, etc. to reduce waste, optimize capital assets and improving throughput.

· Contribute to the manufacturing facility to achieve productivity, inventory, quality, throughput, space and safety objectives established for the facility.

· Support the 5S process within the facility.

· Support the training and education plan facility wide to ensure associates possess the knowledge and skill required to implement and maintain Lean/SPS efforts

· Continuously perform all required tasks in a safe manner, adhering to all established safety rules and procedures. Must take immediate action to correct and/or report any unsafe conditions and hazards.

· Take an active role in caring for the equipment to prevent breakdowns and defects and help increase overall equipment efficiency through 5S, TPM (total productive maintenance), and other Lean Manufacturing initiatives directed by the Sedalia site.

· The CI Coordinator will be required to meet satisfactory performance requirements as determined by the Manager.

· Additional responsibilities include good housekeeping and other assignments as directed by the Manager.

· The employee shall be able to work overtime as requested and posted by management.

Specific Duties:

· Support kaizen event leaders

· Implement effective visual manufacturing boards throughout the facility.

· Perform 5S audits to ensure gains are made and to sustain improvements

· Sustain gains implemented through kaizen events.

· Function as a change agent.

· Ensure “standard work” is vigorously implemented using straightforward work instructions to sustain the improvements

· Support the follow-up efforts established from Kaizen events

· All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Two years minimum experience in manufacturing environment

· Strong quantitative and analytical skills

· Excellent communication skills (oral and written)

· Basic skills in Microsoft Office programs.

· Ability to develop valuable process maps.

· Ability to manage assigned projects

· Willingness to take risks on solutions and decisions

· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively facilitate and communicate at all levels of the organization.

· Must be results oriented, energetic, proactive, a team player, with the ability to think conceptually and strategically

· Ability to effectively present information to varying groups of associates.

Physical Requirements:

· Must have normal field of vision

· Must be capable of lifting 30 lbs.

· Must have vision corrected to 20/20

· Capable of effective written and oral communication

· Ability to distinguish color differences.

· Second and third shift support may be required.

· Ability to read instructions represented in manuals, drawings, schematics etc. and follow them with precision

· FT/ Walkie Certification

· Experience and ability in using hand tools
