This role ensures high availability, performance optimization, and resiliency of backup services across on‑prem and hybrid/cloud environments. \n\nPrimary Responsibilities\n\nBackup & Recovery (NetBackup)\nDesign, implement, and administer Veritas NetBackup (including Flex Appliances). \n\nDefine and manage backup policies, retention schedules, and recovery procedures. \n\nMonitor and troubleshoot backup jobs to ensure SLA compliance. \n\nPerform restore validations, DR testing, and backup audits. \n\nData Protection & Disaster Recovery\nDevelop and implement enterprise backup and disaster recovery strategies. \n\nIntegrate backup solutions with virtualization (VMware). \n\nSupport replication, archiving, and data lifecycle management initiatives. \n\nOperational Excellence & Incident Management\nLead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of backup incidents. \n\nDrive service reliability improvements and prevent recurring issues. \n\nSupport 24x7 operations/on-call rotation as needed. \n\nCapacity Planning & Performance Optimization\nMonitor Backup utilization and forecast growth requirements. \n\nOptimize backup performance, deduplication, and storage efficiency. \n\nPlan and execute storage expansion and refresh activities. \n\nAutomation, Compliance & Documentation\nAutomate backup operations using scripting (PowerShell, Python). \n\nMaintain technical documentation, SOPs, and architecture diagrams. \n\nEnsure compliance with security, governance, and regulatory requirements. \n\nCollaboration & Leadership\nPartner with cloud, virtualization, database, and application teams to deliver integrated solutions. \n\nProvide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers. \n\nAct as SME for enterprise backup technologies.\n\nRequirements\n\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience). \n\n8-10 years of experience in enterprise backup engineering. \n\nHands-on expertise with: \n\nVeritas NetBackup (including flex appliance) administration and architecture\n\nBackup & recovery concepts (replication, deduplication, retention)\n\nExperience supporting production environments with high availability and SLA requirements. \n\nShift timings 3 pm to 11pm Indian Standard Time \n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with data protection appliances (Data Domain, NetBackup appliances). \n\nKnowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper‑V). \n\nFamiliarity with ITSM tools (ServiceNow). \n\nCertifications (preferred): \n\nVeritas NetBackup Certification\n\nITIL
