Instead of cables and outlets, Star Catcher is building the technology to wirelessly beam energy to spacecraft’s existing solar panels when and where they need it.\nBe an early member of a team building an entirely new energy infrastructure at scale to power the next frontier.\nStar Catcher Industries, Inc., located in Jacksonville, Florida, has an opportunity for a Software Engineer to support the development of space-to-space power beaming spacecraft and the Star Catcher Network, its orbital power grid. \nKey Responsibilities\nUse existing DevOps tools, repositories, development processes, and collaboration workflows in daily activities.\nApply software engineering principles to help plan, estimate, and decompose assigned work.\nSupport development of software using C++ and object-oriented design principles in an embedded Linux environment.\nSupport development and testing of embedded, flight, or ground software.\nEnsure implemented software integrates properly with the larger system baseline, including interfaces and network communications.\nCommunicate status, accomplishments, and impediments clearly in team stand-ups or check-ins.\nDevelop test plans and test procedures for peer review, and support test plan execution and documentation.\nIdeal Experience\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.\nFoundational understanding of software development principles, data structures, and one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++).\nFamiliarity with modern software development tools, including compilers, debuggers, and version control systems such as Git.\nWillingness to learn embedded systems, ground systems, or space-specific software practices on the job.\nCreative problem-solving skills and eagerness to grow across the software stack.\nDesired Skills\nCoursework or personal projects involving embedded systems, RTOS, or ground software tooling.\nExposure to embedded Linux development.\nFamiliarity with network communications and software interface development.\nFamiliarity with scripting languages such as Python for test, automation, or tooling.\nKnowledge of Agile software development methodologies.\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines.\nExperience using Linux shell commands and debugging tools.\nFamiliarity with requirements analysis, software verification, and validation.\nInterest in aerospace or spaceflight systems.\nEffective communication skills and ability to work across disciplines.\nHelp us deploy and scale space infrastructure that will drive our utilization of space forward!
