Come grow with us!\nTorch Technologies is seeking an RF & Datalinks Engineer to support the PM UAS Technical Management Division (TMD). This position will serve as a technical expert for UAS RF and datalink systems, working closely with the Chief Engineer, PM UAS Product Offices, Component Technology Branch, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will operate with significant autonomy, solve complex technical challenges, and provide technical leadership across engineering and acquisition activities.\nAs a RF & Datalinks Engineer, your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:\nDevelop and support UAS datalink strategies, architectures, technical requirements, and future capabilities.\nServe as a technical advisor to the Chief Engineer, TMD leadership, Product Offices, and other PM UAS stakeholders.\nProvide technical oversight for RF and datalink system development, integration, qualification, production, fielding, sustainment, and modernization.\nEvaluate RF systems, antennas, modems, radomes, interfaces, communications protocols, software, firmware, waveforms, and related technologies.\nAssess spectrum management, interoperability, encryption, COMSEC, TRANSEC, EMI/EMC, and EW resiliency considerations.\nSupport assessments of current and emerging RF, communications, and datalink technologies, standards, and architectures.\nAssess threat environments and their potential impact on UAS RF and communications systems.\nLead and participate in technical working groups, interface control working groups, engineering reviews, and acquisition forums.\nCoordinate with government laboratories, contractors, Product Offices, military organizations, and other external stakeholders.\nRepresent PM UAS in technical forums and communicate technical and programmatic considerations to diverse audiences.\nDevelop and review Performance Work Statements, Statements of Work, technical requirements, evaluation criteria, and other acquisition documentation.\nEvaluate competing technical approaches based on performance, integration risk, cost, schedule, sustainment, and mission requirements.\nSupport system upgrades, modernization, obsolescence resolution, and field issue resolution.\nProvide technical recommendations regarding architectures, standards, policies, and investments.\nCommunicate effectively with engineers, program managers, acquisition professionals, logisticians, contractors, and senior leadership.\nPerform additional systems engineering and technical activities as assigned.\nRequired Qualifications\nU.S. Citizenship\nBachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or another relevant technical discipline.\n5+ years of related experience. \nAbility to obtain and maintain a secret level clearance. \nDemonstrated experience supporting complex technical systems, engineering programs, or acquisition programs.\nStrong understanding of RF, communications, datalink, or related mission-system technologies.\nAbility to independently investigate complex technical issues and develop sound technical recommendations.\nExperience developing and presenting technical reports, briefings, assessments, and recommendations to management and senior leadership.\nStrong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.\nAbility to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nProficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.\nAbility to work primarily on-site with limited telework eligibility.\nAbility to travel up to 25%.\nU.S. citizenship.\nAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting UAS, Army Aviation, RF, communications, datalink, EW, or tactical communications systems.\nExperience with UAS datalinks, RF architectures, antennas, modems, waveforms, or spectrum management.\nDoD acquisition or Product/Program Management Office experience.\nExperience with COMSEC, TRANSEC, EMI/EMC, EW resiliency, or secure communications.\nExperience developing technical requirements, acquisition documentation, and engineering assessments.\nCurrent TS/SCI clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one.\nPhysical Requirements\nThe physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. The employee will regularly communicate verbally and listen; frequently stand, walk, handle objects, and reach with hands and arms; and occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to routinely lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Required vision abilities may include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
