This role unifies cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, and scaffolding frameworks through robust automation to enable scalable, secure, and efficient service delivery.\nActing as the bridge between infrastructure, platform engineering, and developer experience, the engineer will design systems where automation is the primary control plane-powering infrastructure provisioning, EKS operations, CI/CD pipelines, and self-service service onboarding.\nThe role emphasizes eliminating manual operations, standardizing workflows, and enabling repeatable, production-grade deployments using tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, AWS AFT, CFCT, Kubernetes (EKS), and Backstage.\nAccountabilities\nDesign and implement end-to-end automation frameworks for AWS infrastructure, EKS platforms, and application delivery. \nOwn and operate AWS multi-account environments using AFT and CFCT, driven by automation. \nBuild and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows. \nDevelop reusable scaffolds and templates that are fully automation-enabled. \nEnsure all infrastructure, deployments, and operations are: \nAutomated \nRepeatable \nVersion-controlled and auditable \nDrive operational excellence through automation of monitoring, recovery, and scaling. \nEnable self-service capabilities via Backstage and automation pipelines. \nReduce manual intervention and improve deployment speed, consistency, and reliability. \nResponsibilities\n1. Cloud Infrastructure Automation\nDesign and automate AWS infrastructure provisioning: \nVPCs, EC2s, EKS, subnets, routing, and security groups \nImplement automation-driven multi-account management using: \nAWS Control Tower, AFT, and CFCT \nBuild and maintain: \nAFT pipelines for account provisioning and lifecycle automation \nCFCT pipelines for automated baseline configuration and governance \nAutomate: \nAccount bootstrapping (IAM, logging, security baselines) \nEnvironment provisioning across dev, staging, and production \nEnsure infrastructure is deployed and managed exclusively via IaC and automation pipelines \n2. Kubernetes & EKS Automation\nAutomate lifecycle management of Amazon EKS clusters \nImplement automated deployment patterns using: \nHelm and GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux) \nAutomate Kubernetes operations: \nWorkload deployments \nScaling policies \nConfiguration and secrets management \nBuild automated workflows for: \nCluster upgrades and patching \nPerformance tuning and optimization \nFailure recovery and resilience \n3. Infrastructure as Code & Automation Frameworks\nDevelop and maintain IaC-driven automation frameworks using: \nTerraform and AWS CloudFormation \nCreate reusable automation modules: \nTerraform modules for infrastructure and AFT customization \nCFCT configuration packages for governance enforcement \nIntegrate IaC into CI/CD pipelines for fully automated provisioning \nEnforce: \nVersion control \nAuditability \nSecurity and compliance through automation \n4. DevOps Automation & CI/CD\nDesign and implement fully automated CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket Pipelines \nAutomate: \nBuild, test, security scanning, and deployment workflows \nContainerize applications using Docker and manage images in Amazon ECR \nIntegrate: \nSAST, DAST, and container security scanning \nIaC validation and policy enforcement \nEnable zero-touch or low-touch deployments for engineering teams \n5. Scaffolding & Self-Service Enablement (Secondary Focus)\nDevelop reusable, automation-driven scaffolds: \nInfrastructure templates (Terraform/CloudFormation) \nKubernetes deployment templates (Helm) \nApplication boilerplates \nIntegrate scaffolds into Backstage Software Templates \nEnsure scaffolds: \nAutomatically provision infrastructure \nConfigure pipelines \nDeploy services with minimal manual steps \nAlign scaffolds with: \nAFT-provisioned accounts \nCFCT-enforced baselines \nPromote standardized golden paths powered by automation \n6. Observability, Security & Compliance Automation\nAutomate observability: \nLogging, metrics, and alerting (CloudWatch, Splunk, Prometheus) \nEmbed security via automation: \nIAM provisioning and least privilege enforcement \nIRSA for Kubernetes workloads \nSecrets management (AWS Secrets Manager, SSM) \nImplement policy-as-code and automated compliance checks \nEnsure all environments are continuously monitored and compliant by default \n7.
