This individual will provide theory and practical instruction to a level sufficient for students to develop the skills necessary to complete the Basic Law Enforcement Certification Technical Certificate of Credit.\nResponsibilities (this list is not intended to be exhaustive)\nInstructing students, developing program syllabi, goals and objectives; \nEvaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; \nMaintaining program certification requirements, as appropriate; \nPreparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports; \nMaintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences; \nEnsuring safety and security requirements are met in the classroom and lab environment; \nWorking diligently to maximize student placements in this field or related fields; \nMinimum Qualifications\nAssociates Degree in Criminal Justice or in a related field with 10 graduate hours in Criminal Justice or related law enforcement experience. \nGeorgia P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards Training) Instructor Certification (in good standing). \nThree (3) years of full-time law enforcement experience. \nProven experience in maintaining lesson plans and course notebooks that reflect current curriculum. \nAbility to use a variety of teaching methods to facilitate adult learning and provide educational assistance to individual students as needed. \nKnowledge of current trends and conditions of local business and industry. \nExperience in designing and implementing quality improvement programs. \nValid driver’s license and insurability required. \nPreferred Qualifications\nGeorgia P.O.S.T. Firearms Instructor, EVOC, Defensive Tactics Certification and other high liability certifications strongly preferred. \nTeaching experience in a college or university strongly preferred \nPhysical Demands\nThe employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight, and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Work is typically performed in an office/laboratory environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings. Full range of hand and finger motion is required for data entry purposes.\nSalary/Benefits\nSalary is commensurate with education and work experience.
