The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work

1. Auditing, analyzing, processing, and managing the disbursement of funds for such items as travel expenses and advances.

2. Receiving the daily cash report and deposit slip of monies deposited and verifying said reports for accuracy.

3. Creating deposit recap for funds to be entered into a cash management system and creating/keying the journal voucher to the correct account/center so funds can be entered into NCFS.

4. Processing and providing educational reimbursement claims, extradition reimbursements, manual checks, and employee moving expenses.

5. Performing additional duties as needed.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the Minimum Education and Experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/Management Preferences are not required but applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

• Documented knowledge of general accounting practices.
• Documented working knowledge using Microsoft Excel.
• Documented knowledge of E-Procurement, NCFS or other accounting system.

Salary Range: $33,902 - $59,327

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business needs.

About Nash Correctional Institution

Nash Correctional Institution is a medium custody facility located in Nashville, Nash County NC. It houses approximately 654 male offenders. The facility provides offender labor to two Correction Enterprises operations located on site: the Optical Plant and the Print Plant. The Optical Plant manufactures eyeglasses for customers such as Medicaid and the Division of Services for the Blind. The Print Plant is a full-service print shop dedicated to printing services for state government agencies, public school systems, state community colleges and universities, and non-profit organizations.
