Description of Work
Reporting to a Correctional Programs Supervisor, this position functions in the Programs section at Warren Correctional Institution in Manson NC, which houses approximately 850 multi-level custody male offenders. This position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:1. Carrying a caseload of offenders, which involves supportive counseling, answering and following up on offenders’ questions and problems, and making recommendations to the classification committee.
2. Assisting in major dynamic programs or coordinate major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders, such as offender work assignments, work release, education, or recreation; as well as transition planning and coordinating.
3. Maintaining records and a recall system.
4. Answering phones and typing records and correspondences.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the Minimum Education and Experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/Management Preferences are not required but applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
- Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.

Salary Range: $37,377 - 65,408

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business needs.

Minimum Education and Experience

Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
