It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!\nDescription of Work\nThis position is located at Maury Correctional Institution Department at a multi custody male correctional facility, this position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:1. Directing and administering programs on a broader scope for offenders.\n2. Directing a major program. (The primary programs areas are Offender classification; correctional programs (work release,\nincentive wage, study release, home leave, adult basic education, volunteer programs, religion, and recreation); and\nsupportive counseling.)\n3. Supervising subordinate personnel who are responsible for the implementation, development, and maintenance of the\nprograms on a daily basis.\n4. Coordinating programs with custody staff.\n5. Serving in a custody role during emergency situations as needed, such as disturbances and escapes.\nKnowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences\nSalary Range : $43,267 - $75,718\nCandidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions.
