Description of Work

SALARY RANGE: $55,069.00 - $86,291.00

The District Court Manager provides administrative and case-management support to the District Court Judges of Judicial District 22 and coordinates the efficient operation of District Court activities in Rockingham County.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Duties include:

  • Preparing and maintaining District Court calendars.

  • Coordinating Civil Non-Jury (CNJ), Domestic Violence (50B), custody, administrative and other District Court calendars.

  • Maintaining court dates, sessions and judicial assignments in Odyssey/ Enterprise Justice.

  • Coordinating peremptory settings and calendar calls.

  • Processing and routing proposed orders and other judicial documents.

  • Serving as liaison among judges, attorneys, the Clerk of Superior Court, District Attorney's Office, court personnel and the public.

  • Coordinating interpreter and language access requests.

  • Performing Disability Access Coordinator responsibilities.

  • Assisting with magistrate recruitment and administrative process.

  • Coordinating remote hearings and courtroom technology.

  • Maintaining DCA calendars and judicial assignments.

  • Performing other administrative responsibilities, correspondence, records, mail and weekly post office duties.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

Knowledge of: case management and calendaring rules and procedures to administer the case tracking and calendaring system; court system and organization to effectively interact with court officials, court procedures and legal terminology to communicate with court officials and law enforcement personnel; interpersonal skills to work with court personnel and the general public; organizational skills to monitor case activity and prepare court calendars; and principles of management related to the supervision of staff.

Skills in: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, WebEx, and Casewise; and strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to: use office automation equipment to prepare legal documents and maintain the case tracking system; summarize, compile, and tabulate narrative and numerical material, analyze and record information, and balance figures; learn specific laws, rules and regulations relating to the court system and programs; be resourceful in gathering information and in answering unusual inquires and questions; and compose correspondence independently following established guidelines.

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in court administration, criminal justice, public administration, business, or a related field, and two years of progressive experience in the court system to acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work described; or a master's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
