Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

The System Administrator I position delivers technical and administrative services for systems, software, and/or network of systems. Technical responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving system-related issues; installing, upgrading, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing system software, including operating systems, network and communications software, programming tools, utilities, and associated layered products. Duties also encompass providing operational support for hardware infrastructure, continuously monitoring system performance to assess capacity requirements and identify optimization opportunities, and implementing system and communications software configurations that align with the organization's operational, performance, and business requirements. Duties include coordinating and testing the software changes from the upgrades to minimize the impact on the users' applications and time.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities/Competencies:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of software development principles, methodologies, and best practices
  • Experience designing, developing, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting enterprise applications, APIs, and automated workflows
  • Ability to analyze business and technical requirements to develop scalable, secure, and efficient solutions
  • Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Ability to produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-enabled development tools to improve software quality, productivity, and development efficiency
  • Proficiency in SQL, PostgreSQL, JavaScript, React, Groovy, REST and SOAP APIs, data pipeline development, Agile methodologies, AI-driven development tools, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices. Suitable candidates may have all or a combination of some of these skillsets.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an IT related field or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of progressive experience in systems software programming; or Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressive experience in systems software programming; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
