Partner with Platform Engineering and Data Engineering teams to provide secure, observable, production-grade capabilities that support Core Reference, IBOR, and Stamford data initiatives.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign and build backend services and shared libraries that provide platform capabilities, including:\n\nStreaming & batch ingestion frameworks\n\nMetadata-driven pipelines\n\nAPI and consumption layer integrations\n\nTransformation engine and MDM engine\n\nEngineer reusable platform components aligned with open formats (Iceberg, Parquet), catalog systems (Polaris, Horizon, Unity Catalog), and query engines (Spark, Trino)\n\nImplement platform security controls including role-based access control, authentication, and integration with enterprise entitlements\n\nBuild and maintain platform observability (logging, metrics, traces), alerting, and operational dashboards in support of SLAs\n\nCollaborate with architects to define scalable, extensible designs and ensure adherence to open standards\n\nDrive engineering excellence through code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and production readiness practices\n\nEnsure platform services meet enterprise security and compliance requirements (SCC, governance)\n\nParticipate in on-call/ major incident management and troubleshoot production issues to maintain platform stability\n\nQualifications\nStrong programming skills in Python and Java; knowledge of Rust is a bonus\n\nStrong programming skills in Spark, with hands-on knowledge of optimization and debugging\n\nHands-on experience with Snowflake and Databricks as data platforms\n\nStrong understanding of SQL optimization, execution, and large-scale analytics\n\nDeep understanding and working knowledge of open table formats such as Apache Iceberg are preferred\n\nDeep understanding of distributed computing and hyperscale\n\nExperience building production-grade services in cloud environments; AWS,GCP and/or Azure is preferred\n\nFamiliarity with data catalogs (any of Polaris, Horizon, Unity) and metadata management\n\nFamiliarity with streaming pipelines and Kafka is preferred\n\nUnderstanding of data modeling and data product design\n\nExperience with CI/CD, containers, and Kubernetes\n\nFinancial/data platform background preferred but not required\n\nAbout State Street\nAcross the globe, institutional investors rely on us to help them manage risk, respond to challenges, and drive performance and profitability.
