This role will be responsible for the day-to-day governance of all MSSQL Database infrastructure platform operations processes, ensuring all technology SLA’s/OLA’s are met, driving platform availability. The individual in this role will continuously support engineering initiatives to build robust products and enhance security for operational processes. The individual will mentor & mature a team of highly skilled engineers who repeatedly deliver highly secure, scalable, reliable, efficient and automated database technology operations services that are focused on the needs of all State Street businesses 24*7*365 days. The individual and team will also be responsible for Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge and Configuration management for all relational database infrastructure platforms. In collaboration with the business, technology peers, and vendor partners, you will ensure that State Street’s businesses have optimized services and operations, enabling greater availability, performance and reliability in the delivery of State Street products.\nWhat you will be responsible for\nAs Infrastructure Operations MSSQL Database SME you will\nFunction as a Technical bridge between Engineering team members including service providers\nBe an escalation point of contact for major incidents for Microsoft SQL Server database infrastructure\nInstitute and govern KRI's, KPIs and Metrics related to operational procedures\nBe accountable for Incident, Change, Knowledge, and Problem Management\nBe responsible for end-to- end support for Microsoft SQL Server database Platform including MSSQL /Open systems Database monitoring, investigating problems and developing solutions\nDrive automation of both Engineering and Operational processes\nManage and support Database life cycle activities, including SQL Server migrations to Cloud\nWork with internal and external auditors to enhance security and implement database auditing processes and participate in security audits .\nAdhere to the customers Incident Management Processes and proactively drive the continuous improvement of the Incident Management Process\nManage in scope incidents in the Customer IT Environment in accordance with the customers Incident Management Process\nOpen required Problem Tickets from Incident Tickets Improving the quality and usage of the Known Error Database and recommended workarounds\nWhat we value\nThese skills will help you succeed in this role\nHands on experience on database backup and recovery/migration technologies\nIn depth knowledge and expertise in Microsoft SQL Server Database Tuning, Performance Tuning , Query optimization.\nExperience in Database Monitoring and tuning using Query Store, DMVs, PerfMon, profiler , event viewer, Extended Events and other tools.\nExperience working with vendors\nPowerShell or .Net experience\nHands on experience on High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server and clustering solutions.\nWorking Knowledge of SSIS and Reporting Services.\nExperience on Tanium and other Security products\nEducation & Preferred Qualifications\nBachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.\n 5+ years of experience in L3/L4 Production Support as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator in enterprise environments.\nStrong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server architecture, administration, security, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high-availability solutions.\nExperience with PowerShell scripting, Ansible, Terraform, and infrastructure automation.\nHands-on experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and Infrastructure-as-Code.\nMicrosoft SQL Server certifications (MCSA/MCSE/MCPS or equivalent) preferred.\nITIL Foundation Certification preferred.\nAdditional Requirements\n8 years of experience managing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server databases in 24x7x365 mission-critical production environments, preferably within Banking, Financial Services, or other highly regulated industries.\nDeep understanding of Microsoft SQL Server internals, performance optimization, clustering, Always On Availability Groups, replication, and disaster recovery solutions.\nExperience supporting large-scale SQL Server deployments across on-premises, AWS, and Azure cloud platforms.\nStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and critical-thinking skills with demonstrated experience in root cause analysis and permanent resolution implementation.\nProven experience managing major incidents, severity outages, production stability initiatives, and service restoration activities.\nExperience in database monitoring, capacity planning, patch management, upgrades, security hardening, and vulnerability remediation.\nStrong understanding of database security, access controls, encryption, auditing, and regulatory compliance requirements.\nExperience leading automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.\nExperience automating database administration tasks, monitoring, patching, and operational workflows using scripting and Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks.\nAbility to coordinate with application, infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, and architecture teams during incident and project delivery activities.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills with experience interacting with senior stakeholders and business partners.\nExperience providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and driving operational excellence initiatives.\nGood to Have Skills\nThorough understanding of RDBMS architecture with advanced expertise in SQL Server.\nExposure to other database technologies such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or NoSQL platforms.\nExperience supporting hybrid-cloud and multi-cloud database architectures.\nFamiliarity with audit, risk, compliance, and regulatory frameworks within Financial Services organizations.\nExperience with enterprise monitoring and observability platforms.\nKnowledge of data protection, disaster recovery testing, and business continuity planning.\nExperience working with vendors, infrastructure partners, and cross-functional teams during project delivery and platform upgrades.\nExposure to FinOps, cloud cost optimization, and infrastructure governance practices.\nWork Requirement\nOn-premise / Hybrid\nSalary Range:\n$100,000 - $167,500 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary
