Lead Architect (Prime Services Technology) - Vice President

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Architect to lead the architecture, engineering strategy, and modernization initiatives across the Prime Services Technology organization.

The successful candidate will bring 20+ years of technology leadership experience designing and delivering large-scale, mission-critical platforms within Capital Markets. This role will be responsible for defining and executing the target-state architecture for Securities Lending and Prime Brokerage technology platforms.

The individual will drive modernization through cloud-native architectures, microservices, real-time event-driven systems, AI-assisted development practices, and engineering excellence. The role requires a strong balance of strategic architecture leadership and hands-on technical expertise, with responsibility for platform scalability, resiliency, performance, and operational excellence.

The successful candidate will partner closely with Business, Trading, Operations, Product, and Technology stakeholders globally to deliver highly available and resilient platforms that support business growth and regulatory requirements.

Required Experience & Skills:

Core Requirements

• 20+ years of software engineering, architecture, and technology leadership experience.
• Proven track record of architecting and delivering large-scale distributed systems within Capital Markets.
• Deep expertise in designing high-performance, low-latency, mission-critical platforms.
• Strong understanding of platform scalability, resiliency, fault tolerance, and high-availability architectures.
• Experience defining technology roadmaps and leading large-scale modernization initiatives.

Architecture & Engineering

• Expert knowledge of Domain Driven Design (DDD), Microservices Architecture and Event-Driven Architecture.
• Extensive experience designing real-time systems using asynchronous messaging and streaming technologies.
• Strong expertise in distributed systems design, performance optimization, caching strategies, resiliency patterns, and disaster recovery.
• Deep understanding of API-first architecture, service decomposition, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Strong software engineering background with emphasis on engineering excellence, automation, observability, and operational readiness.

Cloud & AWS

• Extensive hands-on AWS architecture and engineering experience.
• Expertise in designing and operating cloud-native applications using AWS services.
• Experience with EKS/Kubernetes, ECS, Lambda, Aurora/PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, API Gateway, S3, EventBridge, and cloud security services.
• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience designing multi-region, highly available, disaster recovery capable platforms.

Streaming & Real-Time Technologies

• Deep understanding of Kafka, Event Streaming, Messaging Platforms, and Real-Time Data Processing.
• Experience designing event-driven ecosystems capable of handling high transaction volumes and real-time business workflows.
• Expertise in low-latency architecture design for Front Office and Trading platforms.

Development Technologies

• Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, and Distributed Computing.
• Proficiency in Python and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience with Databricks, Spark, Data Engineering, Cloud Data Platforms, and large-scale data processing.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle/PostgreSQL and high-volume transactional systems.

AI & Engineering Productivity

• Demonstrated experience driving adoption of GitHub Copilot, Generative AI, and AI-powered software engineering practices.
• Experience leveraging AI tools to improve software development productivity, quality, and delivery velocity.
• Ability to establish AI-first engineering practices and modern developer experience frameworks.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI adoption within enterprise software delivery.
