You will lead security hardening and lifecycle management across on-premises and cloud Linux environments, helping ensure servers remain patched, secure, and compliant.\nWhy this role is important to us\nThe team you will be joining is a part of Globalink Systems Engineering Linux team, a function that is vital to the company as this role helps minimize the Linux environment’s attack surface through automated remediation, proactive vulnerability management, and disciplined lifecycle management. It supports secure and reliable production services while maintaining the documentation and reporting needed for audit requirements.\nWhat you will be responsible for\nAs a Linux Systems Engineer (Patching & Vulnerability Management), you will:\nDesign, implement, and automate patch deployment strategies for RHEL, CentOS, and Ubuntu environments.\nAnalyze vulnerability scan results from tools such as Tenable, Qualys, or Rapid7, and execute remediation plans to close security gaps.\nUse Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to orchestrate mass updates and maintain configuration consistency at scale.\nManage kernel upgrades, firmware updates, and driver compatibility across hardware, virtual, on-premises, and cloud platforms.\nMaintain rigorous documentation and reporting to support audit and compliance requirements, including SOC 2 and PCI DSS.\nCoordinate production maintenance activities where uptime and maintenance windows are critical.\nWhat we value\nThese skills will help you succeed in this role:\nDeep Linux administration expertise, including command-line operations, shell scripting, and package managers such as YUM, DNF, and APT.\nA strong security mindset with practical understanding of CVEs, CVSS scoring, and common Linux exploits.\nProven experience using infrastructure-as-code and configuration-management tools to manage environments at scale.\nStrong troubleshooting and decision-making skills across diverse hardware and virtual platforms.\nA reliability-focused approach to production systems, change planning, uptime, and controlled maintenance windows.\nEducation & Preferred Qualifications\nDemonstrated professional experience administering Linux production environments.\nHands-on experience with RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu and package-management tooling.\nExperience with vulnerability platforms such as Tenable, Qualys, or Rapid7.\nExperience with automation and configuration-management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.\nWorking knowledge of security hardening, vulnerability remediation, kernel and firmware lifecycle management, and audit documentation.\nAdditional requirements\nPython scripting is preferred.\nKnowledge of Terraform Infrastructure as a code is preferred.\nWork Requirement\nNight and weekend support.\nParticipation in an on-call rotation.\nDatacenter visit and physical work.\nAbout State Street\nAcross the globe, institutional investors rely on us to help them manage risk, respond to challenges, and drive performance and profitability.
