State Street is an American financial institution founded in Boston in 1792 and one of the oldest banks in the United States, though its modern business bears little resemblance to retail banking. It is one of the three dominant global custodians, holding trillions of dollars of assets in safekeeping for institutional investors and providing the fund accounting, administration and settlement infrastructure that asset managers depend on. Its investment arm State Street Global Advisors created the first American exchange traded fund with the SPDR S&P 500 Trust and remains one of the largest index managers in the world.

Who we are looking for

In this role, you will work with State Street teams across the globe to support premier investment management clients. As an Officer, you will have direct accountability for overseeing day-to-day transactional and trade operations, ensuring operational integrity, data accuracy, and high-quality client service in a fast paced and dynamic environment. This role requires independent judgment, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage complex issues across multiple stakeholders.

Why this role is important to us

You will serve as a key point of escalation and a first line of defense in identifying, mitigating, and escalating potentially risky activity. Through close partnership with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will play a critical role in ensuring operational excellence, strengthening controls, and contributing to innovative solutions that enhance how State Street services its clients.

What you will be responsible for

As an Officer, you will:

  • Serve as a trusted subject matter expert within the business unit, leading the resolution of complex operational, client, and trade-related issues involving clients, custodians, brokers, counterparties, and internal teams.

  • Maintain ownership and oversight of comprehensive client data across trading platforms, and internal account records, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

  • Deliver high-quality client service through proactive communication, timely follow-up, and effective research and resolution of internal and external client inquiries, including appropriate escalation as needed.

  • Act as first escalation point for the Operations team by managing and resolving actions across all client types using approved systems and custodian platforms.

  • Prepare, review, validate, and approve standard and ad hoc client reporting, ensuring data integrity and alignment with client and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide oversight of daily transaction processing routines, ensuring adherence to established controls, procedures, and service level expectations.

  • Identify operational risks, process gaps, and efficiency opportunities, partnering with peers and leadership to optimize operating models and workflows.

  • Apply practical use cases of AI and automation tools to support business objectives, enhance data analysis, and streamline operational processes.

  • Support department wide initiatives, ad hoc projects, and strategic priorities as assigned by leadership.

What we value

  • Exposure to asset management, banking operations, or financial services environments.

  • Strong Excel proficiency (pivot tables, lookups, and formulas) and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; trading platform experience and VBA, SQL, Python are a plus.

  • Ability to synthesize findings and insights into clear, well-organized summaries and client-ready materials.

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Highly self-driven and adaptable, with the ability to take direction, exercise independent judgment, problem-solve effectively, and deliver results with minimal oversight in a dynamic, evolving environment.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Business, Accounting, or Finance preferred.

Work Requirement

This role requires four (4) days per week working in the office.
