You’ll work at the intersection of content, design, and development-turning complex information into clear, helpful, and engaging experiences that empower users to succeed.\nYou’ll partner closely with UX designers, developers, and product managers to create content that improves understanding, builds trust, and drives adoption of digital services used by millions.\nContributions\nPartner with designers, developers, and subject matter experts to understand user needs and transform technical concepts into approachable language.\nCreate and maintain user-facing content such as help center articles, onboarding guides, FAQs, and in-app copy that guide users through digital services.\nAnalyze user journeys and feedback to identify where content can reduce confusion, improve task completion, or build confidence.\nDevelop and maintain content standards, plain language guidelines, and voice/tone documentation to ensure a consistent, inclusive experience.\nStructure information logically so users can easily find what they need, when they need it.\nContinuously update and improve content to reflect evolving user needs, technologies, and policies.\nCollaborate with UX researchers to test content comprehension and usability.\nEnsure all documentation aligns with accessibility (Section 508) and government plain-language best practices.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant writing or content design experience.\nExceptional writing, editing, and information-architecture skills with a sharp eye for detail.\nDeep empathy for users and the ability to translate technical topics into clear, relatable language.\nExperience creating content for digital products, software, or online services.\nFamiliarity with human-centered design principles and agile development environments.\nAbility to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.\nBonus: experience collaborating with developers working in Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks.\nAbout steampunk\nSteampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,000 to $130,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
