This role oversees production employees, ensures schedules are met, maintains quality standards, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and promotes a safe and productive work environment.\nThe ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can motivate teams, solve problems, and balance safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities\nResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:\nProvide leadership, coaching, and direction to welding and production team members.\nLead daily production activities to ensure schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements are achieved.\nPromote and maintain a strong safety culture through training, communication, and enforcement of safety policies and procedures.\nChampion continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.\nAssign and prioritize work effectively to maximize labor utilization and departmental performance.\nMonitor workflow, staffing levels, and equipment availability to meet production objectives.\nEnsure the safe and efficient operation of equipment within assigned production areas.\nAddress employee attendance concerns, call-ins, and workplace issues in accordance with company policies.\nTake ownership of production schedules and departmental performance.\nParticipate in workforce planning and provide recommendations regarding personnel, equipment, and space requirements.\nCollaborate with Project Managers, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and other departments to ensure timely production and issue resolution.\nMonitor production metrics and take corrective actions when performance expectations are not met.\nSupport employee development through training, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.\nParticipate in hiring, onboarding, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, and recognition activities.\nFoster a positive team environment focused on accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.\nQualifications\nTo perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.\nEducation & Experience\nHigh School Diploma or GED required.\nAssociate's degree in Manufacturing, Business, Management, or a related field preferred.\nMinimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience.\n2-5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.\n5+ years of welding and/or metal fabrication experience preferred.\nPrevious experience leading welders or fabrication teams strongly preferred.\nExperience working in a custom fabrication, structural steel, or heavy manufacturing environment is a plus.\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nStrong leadership and employee development skills.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal abilities.\nProven problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.\nExperience working with production schedules and manufacturing metrics.\nStrong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.\nAbility to accurately use measuring devices and perform basic mathematical calculations.\nForklift certification or experience preferred.\nExperience operating overhead cranes preferred.\nBilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.\nLanguage Skills\nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, procedures, and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, and vendors.\nSupervisory Responsibilities\nThis position carries direct supervisory responsibility for night shift welding personnel. Responsibilities include:\nTraining and coaching employees.\nAssigning and directing work.\nConducting performance evaluations.\nManaging employee accountability and attendance.\nRecognizing employee achievements.\nAddressing employee concerns and resolving workplace issues.\nSupporting hiring and disciplinary processes in accordance with company policies.\nPhysical Requirements\nWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to:\nStand and walk for extended periods.\nUse hands and arms to handle materials and equipment.\nCommunicate effectively with employees and leadership.\nOccasionally lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.\nWork in a manufacturing environment requiring close, distance, peripheral, and color vision.\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.\nWork Environment\nThis position is based in a manufacturing and welding environment. Team members are frequently exposed to moving mechanical equipment, noise, sparks, and welding operations.
