This role owns the technical blueprint for environments that support fleet readiness monitoring, maintenance planning, logistics coordination, and operational decision-making.\nThe architect will work directly with engineers, security architects, data scientists, and product owners to translate mission requirements into well-architected cloud solutions that are secure, resilient, compliant, and cost-effective.\nUnlike a purely advisory role, this position stays close to implementation. The ideal candidate can produce architecture and design documentation, prototype solutions, set standards for infrastructure as code, and guide engineering teams through delivery.\nSteerBridge applies proven patterns-well-architected design, hardened and STIG-aligned baselines, Medallion data architecture, and automated CI/CD to deliver platforms that meet DoD security and authorization expectations. The architect ensures these patterns are applied consistently across the environment.\nThis is a hybrid position based in Vienna, VA.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign secure, scalable AWS GovCloud architectures for aviation analytics and operational workloads, applying AWS Well-Architected principles across reliability, security, performance efficiency, and cost optimization.\n\nDevelop architecture diagrams, design documentation, and technical decision records while defining standards for networking, identity, compute, storage, and data services.\n\nEmbed security and compliance into solution designs through least-privilege IAM, encryption, network segmentation, hardened baselines, auditability, logging, and continuous monitoring.\n\nPartner with security architects to align solutions with applicable DoD and DISA frameworks, compliance requirements, and authorization processes.\n\nEstablish standards for infrastructure as code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines, guide engineering implementation, and lead architecture and design reviews to ensure alignment with approved designs.\n\nEvaluate technology options, prototype and validate new patterns and services, and make architecture decisions based on mission requirements, scalability, risk, compliance, and cost.\n\nTranslate mission and product requirements into technical roadmaps and collaborate with data teams, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to align platform architecture with Medallion data patterns, cloud modernization strategies, and operational needs.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nEligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship is required for this position under applicable federal contract requirements. Candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role.\n\n6+ years of cloud experience, including 3+ years in an architecture or lead engineering role.\n\nDeep expertise designing AWS solutions across compute, networking, storage, and IAM, with strong knowledge of the AWS Well-Architected Framework and secure cloud design patterns.\n\nExperience with infrastructure as code (IaC), including Terraform or CloudFormation, and implementing CI/CD at scale.\n\nStrong understanding of cloud security, identity and access management, and network segmentation.\n\nAbility to develop clear architecture and technical documentation and communicate complex concepts effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.\n\nExperience leading technical delivery across multidisciplinary teams.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience architecting solutions in AWS GovCloud or other federal or highly regulated environments.\n\nFamiliarity with DoD and DISA compliance requirements, STIG hardening, and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes.\n\nExperience designing data platforms and Medallion architectures for analytics workloads.\n\nExperience deploying containerized application workloads and implementing hybrid networking and DNS solutions.\n\nAWS Professional-level certification, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect -
