The role will oversee the administration, monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance of network infrastructure, ensuring secure, reliable connectivity and services, with opportunities to develop further in network and infrastructure engineering.Key Responsibilities:\nAdminister and maintain LAN, WAN and wireless network infrastructure.\nConfigure and troubleshoot switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points and VPNs.\nManage VLANs, IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, routing and network segmentation.\nMonitor network performance, availability and capacity.\nDiagnose and resolve network connectivity and performance issues.\nAssist with network security, firewall administration and access controls.\nMaintain network diagrams, IP addressing records, configurations and infrastructure documentation.\nParticipate in network upgrades, infrastructure projects and new site deployments.\nProvide technical support and escalation assistance to the IT User Support and IT Operations teams.\nAssist with Windows/Linux server administration, virtualisation, backups and other systems administration tasks.\nWork with external service providers and technology vendors when required.\nQualifications:\nRelevant IT qualification or equivalent practical experience.\nMikroTik, Network+, Microsoft or equivalent certifications (advantageous).\nSkills:\nStrong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, routing, DHCP and DNS.\nStrong troubleshooting and analytical skills.\nWorking knowledge of Microsoft Windows.\nGood documentation and communication skills.\nA proactive approach to identifying and resolving infrastructure problems.\nExperience:\n2-4 years' experience in network administration or a similar infrastructure role.\nPractical experience with switches, firewalls, wireless networks and VPNs.\nSome practical experience with server or systems administration.\nExperience with MikroTik, UniFi, OPNsense/pfSense or similar platforms (advantageous).\nExperience with network monitoring and IPAM systems (advantageous).\nLinux administration (advantageous).\nVMware, Hyper-V or Proxmox (advantageous).\nRADIUS, 802.1X or network access control (advantageous).\nScripting or network automation (advantageous).\nNetwork security experience (advantageous).\nWe are committed to Employment Equity when recruiting internally and externally.
