Actual pay rate and job title commensurate with experience\nPrimary Purpose of Position\nMaintain the safe operations of the Primary Utilities facilities, related equipment and personnel in a safe and efficient manner. This is an existing position,.\nReports To\nArea Manager- Operations\nProvides Leadership To\nBargaining Unit Personnel, Assigned Service Groups, Contractors\nKey Tasks & Responsibilities\nAdminister the company safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the Operating facility\n Promote safety by various means (safety contacts, safety tours, incident investigations and follow-up, SDS and JSA review, equipment condition, etc.) and leads by example\nEnsure adherence to all environmental control procedures and relevant codes and standards\nApply technical principles and problem-solving techniques to evaluate and resolve equipment issues to maximize operating efficiencies\nSupervise, direct and coordinate the efforts of experienced technicians, apprentices, co-ops and project planners to repair and maintain various mill equipment to keep the operations running at maximum efficiency with minimum interruption\nUse technical knowledge and maintenance history of equipment to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs\n Perform administrative activities such as scheduling and paying employees, completing maintenance reports, conducting safety conversations, and compiling other reporting as necessary by the operating facility\nActively participate in recruitment screening and selection of prospective new hires\n Establish performance goals and objectives with Day Manager/Area Manager - Steam Generation\nEducation/Experience/Qualifications from\nTSSA 2nd class Power Engineer Certificate\n 2+ years of supervisory experience in a heavy industrial or unionized environment is a strong asset\nPrevious work experience in a steel mill is also a strong asset\nJob Skills and Knowledge\nGood working knowledge of electrical or mechanical maintenance practices and required skills\nStrong oral and written communication skills\nGood interpersonal and leadership skills\nStrong problem-solving skills\nAbility and desire to work in a shop floor environment\nProficient in MS Office\nAn enthusiastic approach and ability to learn quickly and assume responsibility\nAs a manager/supervisor of the company, qualified candidates for this role also must demonstrate the ability to manage change, communicate effectively, and lead high-performance teams.\nYour work environment\nFast-paced heavy industrial manufacturing environment for a high impact team\nThe job is within a heavy industrial environment and you will be required to work within various areas of the facility\nSafety is our highest priority and safety procedures and guidelines must always be adhered to.
