This role supports mission design, system integration, test execution, and ground hardware/software development across the Systems Engineering Lifecycle. The engineer will contribute to capabilities that enable proactive and near real-time monitoring, detection, analysis, response, and reporting.\nRole/Responsibilities/Qualifications\nThe Systems Engineer will apply remote sensing systems engineering and project management knowledge to support mission design, system integration, test execution, and ground hardware/software development across the Systems Engineering Lifecycle. The role contributes to the implementation of a proliferated spacecraft constellation providing proactive and near real-time monitoring, detection, analysis, response, and reporting capabilities. The engineer will independently develop or contribute to solutions for technical problems of moderate scope and complexity, with some guidance, and may review or guide the work of junior teammates.\nSupport mission design and system integration activities for a proliferated spacecraft constellation providing monitoring, detection, analysis, response, and reporting capabilities.\n\nSupport space and ground systems through technical design, system integration, Integration & Test (I&T), verification, and transition to operations.\n\nSupport ground hardware/software development, integration, and test activities needed to achieve overall mission success.\n\nDevelop and execute test campaigns across the Systems Engineering Lifecycle.\n\nCollaborate with customers, users, and engineering teams to define system functionality, operational concepts, requirements, interfaces, and technical solutions.\n\nDevelop architecture products, engineering analyses, technical documentation, and presentation materials supporting program execution.\n\nDistill complex technical information into clear engineering recommendations and presentations for customers and program leadership.\n\nSupport technical reviews, risk management, requirements verification, and system readiness activities.\n\nSupport hardware/software integration, troubleshooting, and anomaly investigation.\n\nSupport activities associated with Major Capability Acquisitions and/or Middle Tier Acquisition.\n\nCommunicate technical and program information clearly through written products, meeting notes, presentations, and verbal updates.\n\nCollaborate across multidisciplinary teams to improve system performance and address customer mission needs.\n\nDemonstrate initiative, accountability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to technical execution.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution.\n\n5+ years of experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community acquisition, program management, or systems engineering for space, ground, or defense systems.\n\nExperience developing architecture products, engineering analyses, technical documentation, and presentation materials supporting program execution.\n\nExperience with system architecture, requirements development, interface management, and technical documentation.\n\nExperience supporting space or ground systems through technical design, system integration, Integration & Test (I&T), verification, and transition to operations.\n\nExperience supporting technical reviews, risk management, and requirements verification.\n\nExperience with Air Force, Space Force, other DoD, DoW, or Intelligence Community space or ground programs.\n\nExperience with hardware/software integration and troubleshooting.\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\n\nDesired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution in a STEM discipline.\n\nExperience with spacecraft ground systems design, ground entry point design, spacecraft design, or remote sensing mission development.\n\nFamiliarity with the Agile software development lifecycle.\n\nExcellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.\n\nAbility to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.\n\nClearance & Additional Requirements\nU.S. citizenship required.\nActive Secret security clearance required.\n\nAbility to work on site at Los Angeles Air Force Base 1-2 days per week is highly preferred.\n\nLocation\nEl Segundo, CA - Ability to work on site at Los Angeles Air Force Base 1-2 days per week is highly preferred.\nCompensation:\nThe typical annual salary range for this position is approximately, USD $126,000 - $152,000. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.\nIn addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a comprehensive total rewards package that includes an annual performance bonus, an employer-funded Profit-Sharing Plan (PSP) contribution based on base compensation, and comprehensive employer-paid medical benefits, PTO pay-out options, along with additional company-sponsored benefits. All of these benefits represent an additional 30-40% to your base compensation for a total compensation package.\nDeliverable(s)\nThis role will help ensure spacecraft mission elements are successfully designed, integrated, tested, and prepared for operational use. The engineer's work will help resolve complex hardware/software integration challenges, investigate anomalies, strengthen system performance, and provide the technical evidence needed to demonstrate mission readiness.
