This role is accountable for delivering safety excellence through effective communication, collaboration, and innovative problem solving. This role demonstrates safety leadership by overseeing all health and safety activities in Stelumar’sfacilities and worksites, including but not limited to policies, programs, prevention strategies, safety reporting, risk assessments, and auditing. The ideal candidate is people-oriented, relentless in their pursuit of safety excellence, and has experience in both world-class advanced manufacturing organizations and in construction contexts.\nWhat you’ll do\nLead the development, implementation,maintenance, and continuous improvement of Stelumar’sHealth and Safety Program,includingSafe Work Practices, Safe Job Procedures, and Site Emergency Response Plans.\nCollaborate with Mattamy Homes’ Director of Health & Safety to ensure programs and policies align across the broader organization where appropriate\nCommunicate and promote Stelumar’shealth & safety program across manufacturing facilities and offices, and lead safety initiatives by sharing best practices and lessons learned.\nMonitor factory conditions and worker safety performance, conduct regular audits and inspections, and educate employees, contractors, and partners on safety precautions and standards.\nInvestigate all serious incidents, injuries, and near misses; identify root cause, recommend corrective actions, and report findingsto Management and appropriate government authorities in a timely manner.\nEnsurethat health & safety committees are in place, meeting regularly, and documenting their activities in accordance with OHS requirements.\nProactively identifysafety-related risks.\nDevelop, implement, and audit machine guarding and lockout/tagout (LOTO) programs across automated and robotic production lines.\nLiaise with external parties, including government inspectors, sub-contractors, and the public, and represent Stelumar at stakeholder meetings on workplace health and safety matters.\nPartner with Facilities to coordinate safety requirements for contractors and vendors and to align on building systems (e.g., fire/life safety, HVAC, electrical) affecting worker and site safety.\nWhen required, assist management with sourcing, training, onboarding, and hiring Health and Safety Representatives.\nManageSafety Data Sheets (SDS) for all controlled products.\nManage WSIB claims and the modified duties and return-to-work programs.\nOther duties as assigned.\nWhat you bring\nPost-secondary education or equivalent experience in occupational health & safety.\n5-7 years of progressive health and safety experience, including at least 2 years leading a safety program or team\nExperience leading health and safety in advanced manufacturing facilities featuring a high degree of automation and robotics, including working knowledge of machine guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and industrial robot safety standards.\nExpert knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and working knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and return-to-work processes.\nStrong leadership skills, with experiencecoaching and mentoring teams.\nExperienceinvestigating, documenting, and reporting workplace incidents and accidents.\nExperiencebuilding a health & safety program from the ground up.\nProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).\nDetail-oriented, with strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills (written and verbal).\nAdaptable and self-motivated, able to build consensus and work effectively both independently and with diverse teams across changing environments.\nWillingness to travel regularly between Stelumar'sGTA facilities and active construction sites, and to spend significant time on an operating factory floor in required PPE.\nBonus Points\nPrevious experience in manufacturing.\nCompensation\nThe expected base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $130,000. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills.
