Business Operations Manager

StemWave · Seaport, Boston · Full-time · In-person

A Note from Tom, CEO & Founder

Hi, I'm Tom Kostopoulos, Founder and CEO of StemWave.

I'm looking for an experienced operator to lead the business side of the company. This isn't a traditional operations role and it's a leadership position for someone who has already managed teams, owned a P&L, and worked directly with lawyers on contracts, compliance, and disputes.

For years, I've handled much of this myself. This role exists because I need someone who can immediately take meaningful operational responsibility off my plate and run key parts of the business with the same level of ownership and judgment that I would.

If you've managed people, owned financial results, and are comfortable navigating legal and vendor relationships, I'd love to hear from you.

About StemWave

StemWave is a medical device company developing shockwave therapy technology that helps people recover from pain and get back to living their lives.

We're a team of 100 based in Boston's Seaport District. We've never raised outside capital and not a single dollar. Every milestone has been funded through our own revenue, allowing us to grow on our own terms.

Over the past three years, we've averaged approximately 70% annual growth while earning a place on the Inc. 500 list three consecutive years.

Being profitable, self-funded, and growing quickly means we move fast, make decisions without investor interference, and expect every team member to make a meaningful impact.

About the Role

As Business Operations Manager, you'll work directly with me to oversee critical parts of the business. This is not an apprenticeship or support role. It's an executive-level operating position for someone who already knows how to lead teams, own financial performance, and navigate legal and operational challenges.

You'll have real authority, real accountability, and the autonomy to make decisions that move the business forward.

What You'll Do

Own Financial Performance

Review a business P&L, oversee budgets, monitor revenue and expenses, identify risks and opportunities, and provide clear, actionable reporting on performance.

Lead Legal & Contract Operations

Serve as the primary liaison with outside counsel, managing contracts, compliance matters, negotiations, and disputes while knowing when executive involvement is needed.

Drive Company Operations

Lead key operational processes, oversee leadership meetings, improve execution across departments, and ensure priorities are moving forward with minimal oversight.

Your First 90 Days

Month One

Learn the business, financials, legal matters, and vendor relationships. Meet each department and understand how the organization operates. Participate in leadership meetings and begin building relationships.

Month Two

Begin managing active legal and contractual matters. Provide weekly updates on financial performance, operational priorities, and personnel decisions.

Month Three

Operate independently. Manage budget, legal matters, and operational initiatives with minimal oversight. Represent the company and leadership when appropriate.

What You Bring

The following are essential for success in this role:

  • High emotional intelligence and sound judgment.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong work ethic and a bias toward action.

  • Ability to process information quickly and make thoughtful decisions.

  • Confidence operating independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven ownership of a P&L with accountability for financial results.

  • Experience working directly with outside counsel on contracts, legal matters, or compliance.

Who This Isn't For

This role isn't the right fit if you:

  • Prefer highly structured environments with constant direction.

  • Need every detail defined before taking action.

  • Avoid making difficult decisions.

  • Struggle with accountability or attention to detail.

If that's you, you probably won't enjoy this role and that's perfectly okay.

Who I'm Looking For

Results matter more than titles or pedigree.

I'm looking for someone with a proven history of managing budgets, solving operational problems, and navigating legal or vendor relationships in a fast-moving business.

This is a senior leadership role and not an entry-level or early-career opportunity.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $120,000-$200,000, depending on experience.

In addition, we offer:

  • Performance-based bonus.

  • Equity opportunity.

  • Comprehensive health benefits.

  • Unlimited PTO
