You'll be a consistent, on-the-ground point of contact for client-side clinical coordinators, preceptors, and students - handling site activation, clinical coordination, student support, and day-to-day client communication.\nSuccess in this role looks like students completing their clinical rotations successfully, and strong, trusting relationships with the site- and hospital-level stakeholders who make that possible.\nThis role requires regular travel to clinical sites around the US - 50%+ of your time overall.\nIf you're energized by the chance to build a brand-new function from an unfinished playbook, and to shape how the next generation of surgical technologists and sterile processing technicians make it through clinicals - we'd love to hear from you.\nWhat you'll do:\nOnsite Travel & Site Activation\nTravel to clinical sites to lead pre-launch preparation ahead of each skills lab start, confirming logistics, materials, and site readiness with site leadership.\n\nIdentify and onboard the client-side clinical coordinator at each new site; lock in preceptor onboarding dates and confirm materials are shipped and ready before students arrive.\n\nIncrease your travel cadence as cohorts move into clinical scrubs, responding to ad hoc site needs as they come up.\n\nStudent Support\nBuild trusting relationships with students throughout their clinical rotation, serving as a consistent, familiar point of contact.\n\nSupport students through clinical remediation when a practice-readiness or professionalism concern comes up.\n\nTrack cohort progress against the clinical timeline; flag at-risk students early and loop in the Program Director and internal teams.\n\nClinical Coordination\nServe as the primary point of contact for client-side clinical coordinators and preceptors across your sites.\n\nOnboard preceptors directly, or alongside client-side coordinators, through in-person or virtual sessions.\n\nEnsure preceptor evaluations are completed in a timely and thorough manner, and coordinating with preceptors and students as necessary\n\nOwn the recurring (biweekly) check-in cadence with on-site coordinators.\n\nClient Communication\nPresent independently to client-side clinical coordinators, preceptors, and hospital staff - building credibility and trust quickly.\n\nSupport hospital-level OR/division director relationships on multi-site accounts, alongside the Program Director.\n\nExercise judgment on what to resolve directly versus escalate to the Program Director, and how to de-escalate an issue with a client in the moment.\n\nPartner closely with Stepful's Program Director and Customer Success teams so client outreach isn't duplicated across the account.\n\nWhat you'll bring:\nClinical fluency - you meet one of the following: an active NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT TS-C certification; you're a nurse/OR professional with extensive hands-on operating room experience; or you hold an associate's or nursing degree with first-assist experience\n\nStakeholder communication: you're comfortable presenting independently to clinical coordinators, preceptors, and client-side hospital staff, building credibility without a long ramp-up\n\nProcess and operational management: experience tracking cohort or program progress, flagging at-risk students or sites early, and managing the logistics of an in-person program (skills lab setup, materials, scheduling)\n\nWillingness to travel to clinical sites regularly - 50%+ of the time, with heavier travel during the clinical scrubs phase of each cohort\n\nComfort operating with real autonomy in a fast-growing organization, building process from an unfinished playbook\n\nBonus points if:\nYou have experience in EdTech or online/hybrid healthcare training environments\n\nYou've worked in a healthcare training, apprenticeship, or externship placement environment\n\nYou hold dual certification across both surgical technology and sterile processing\n\nYou're based in the Southeast US, near Stepful's initial expansion footprint (Georgia, Florida, or North/South Carolina)\n\nInterview Process:\nRecruiter screen\n\nHiring Manager screen\n\nTake-home case study\n\nVirtual half-day panel\n\nBenefits and Compensation:\nMeaningful Equity Stake\n\nSubsidized Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance plan options\n\n401(k)\n\nFSA, HSA and commuter benefits\n\nLearning stipend\n\nOpen vacation policy, including:\nGuidance of 15 days PTO annually\n\nStepful closed the last week of December\n\n15 work-from-anywhere days\n\n10 public holidays observed for 2026\n\nThe target base salary range for this opportunity is $70,000 - $80,000, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including equity and benefits.
