Stepful is a healthcare workforce training company headquartered in New York City and founded in 2020. The company runs short online programs that prepare people for entry level clinical roles such as medical assistant, pharmacy technician, phlebotomist, and surgical technologist, including certification exam preparation and externship placement. It partners with hospital systems and clinics that use the programs to build their own pipeline of certified staff.

About Stepful:

Stepful is a workforce platform redefining how America's largest health systems build, train, and retain their talent. Since our founding in 2021, Stepful’s trained over 32,000 practice-ready healthcare workers.

Layering onto our successful direct-to-consumer training, Stepful partners with leading healthcare institutions to address the growing national shortage of healthcare workers. We’re improving access to quality healthcare for everyone, everywhere, and improving access to healthcare career ladders for those who need them most.

Our students form the talent pipelines for major employers such as NY-Presbyterian, Mt. Sinai, HCA, Providence, CVS, and Walgreens. We have partnerships with half of the top 10 health systems in the US and are in process with many more.

Stepful is backed by Y Combinator, Reach Capital, and AlleyCorp, with a recent $55M Series C led by Oak HC/FT. We were named the #1 EdTech company in the U.S. by TIME for 2025.

Our values:

We credit much of our success to our exceptional team. We’re looking for mission-driven builders who thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, and embody our four core values:

  • Care first: We do whatever it takes for our students to succeed.

  • Learn quickly: We test, learn with data, and iterate.

  • Build together: We win when we rely on each other.

  • Own it: We show up, take initiative, and show pride.

The opportunity:

Stepful is launching a Radiologic Technology A.A.S. program leading to ARRT (R) certification eligibility.

We're partnering directly with employers to help them build their own RadTech programs, powered by Stepful: they sponsor the education of new talent, and we bring the accreditation, curriculum, instruction, and operations. Labs and clinicals happen inside their facilities, so students train where they'll eventually work, and employers build their own talent pipelines exactly where they need them.

We're scaling this model across the country, starting in Texas, and are looking for the academic leader who can bring it to life.

As Radiology School Program Director of record, you'll shape program design and carry accountability for the program's credentialing, completion, and job placement outcomes - success will be measured by program completion and graduation rate, ARRT credentialing exam pass rate, and job placement rate. You'll be supported by dedicated curriculum, operations, partnerships, and policy teams who build against the standards you set. This is a build role, not a maintenance role, for someone who wants their name on the outcomes.

This role is remote and Texas-based, with regular travel to partner sites, and reports into our Imaging Programs Lead.

What you'll do:

Program design and curriculum

  • Support the development of curriculum, ensuring our didactic content meets accreditor standards

  • Lead the development of clinical playbooks that govern supervision, competency progression, and rotation quality, so that students get the practical learning the credential demands

Outcomes, accreditation, and compliance

  • Own program outcomes: carry accountability for metrics such as program completion and graduation rate, ARRT credentialing exam pass rate, and job placement rate; track leading indicators and identify interventions for improvement

  • Lead accreditation and monitor compliance: serve as the primary academic point of contact for ABHES compliance across the program, including annual reporting, substantive change filings, and site visit readiness

Partnerships and faculty leadership

  • Support conversations with our employer partners as a clinical SME: join calls or meetings led by our partnerships team, as your availability allows, speaking to the program's clinical design and answering questions from an informed practitioner's perspective

  • Build and lead faculty: hire, onboard, observe, and develop didactic faculty, lab instructors, and clinical preceptors, in alignment with your vision for the program

Travel and teaching

  • Travel to partner sites for site feasibility assessments, lab observations, preceptor development, and accreditation visits, weighted toward new site launches - likely once monthly in 2026, scaling to up to 50% travel starting 2027; all travel and program-related expenses reimbursed

  • Option to instruct our first cohort, either virtually in didactic courses or on the ground as a clinical educator

What you'll bring:

  • Texas-based, with reliable access to a major airport and availability to travel

  • Current ARRT R.T.(R) certification

  • Current Texas GMRT certificate from the Texas Board of Medical Radiologic Technology

  • Prior Program Director experience of an accredited radiography program

  • 5+ years of clinical experience in radiography

  • Familiarity with program accreditation and regulatory compliance, including JRCERT and ABHES accreditation requirements and process

  • Strong data and technical literacy, prioritizing leading indicators over retrospective, end-of-year metrics

Bonus points if:

  • You've built or launched a new academic program from the ground up, rather than only maintained an existing one

  • You have direct experience partnering with employer or health-system stakeholders on workforce pipelines

  • You hold an advanced degree (e.g., MEd, MHA) or certifications beyond ARRT R.T.(R)

  • You've worked in a fast-growing startup or EdTech environment

Interview Process:

  • Introductory call with Talent Acquisition

  • Interview with Hiring Manager

  • Take-Home Assignment

  • Final Panel Interviews

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Meaningful Equity Stake

  • Subsidized Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance plan options

  • 401(k)

  • FSA, HSA and commuter benefits

  • Learning stipend

  • Open vacation policy, including:

  • Guidance of 15 days PTO annually

  • Stepful closed the last week of December

  • 15 work-from-anywhere days

  • 10 public holidays observed for 2026

The target base salary range for this opportunity is $100,000 - $125,000, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including equity and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, internal pay equity and other relevant business considerations.
