Interns will gain hands-on exposure to all aspects of cattle care and reproductive management while working with a herd of more than 5,000 animals, ranging from newborn calves to lactating cows.\nThis structured internship includes three-week rotations through four key operational departments, combining practical experience with classroom-based learning. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals and have opportunities to participate in additional educational experiences that extend beyond their assigned rotations.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nFollow established calf care protocols, including animal movement, barn management, biosecurity procedures, daily health checks, vaccinations, and automated feeder maintenance.\nMonitor cows during labor and provide assistance during calving when appropriate while ensuring proper care of newborn calves.\nLearn and participate in embryo transfer procedures and related reproductive management protocols.\nDevelop an understanding of common calf diseases, treatment methods, and herd health management practices.\nAssist with the collection of EcoFeed™ data from heifers and cows while supporting daily herd management activities.\nGain experience with Lely robotic milking systems and automated calf feeding technologies.\nParticipate in educational opportunities such as farm tours, industry visits, intern development trips, and the Ohio State Fair Milk-a-Cow exhibit.\nSupport daily operational activities across multiple departments within the facility.\nMaintain accurate records and follow all safety and animal welfare standards.\nWork a schedule of approximately 40-60 hours per week, including rotating weekend shifts.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nBasic knowledge of cattle care, animal husbandry, or dairy production.\nAbility to work effectively as part of a team to accomplish tasks and projects.\nSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative.\nStrong work ethic and willingness to learn.\nPositive attitude and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced agricultural environment.\nAbility to adapt to a variety of responsibilities and learning opportunities.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience handling cattle or working in a livestock environment.\nKnowledge of herd management practices and dairy operations.\nFamiliarity with herd management software systems.\nPursuing a degree in Animal Science, Dairy Science, Agriculture, Agricultural Business, Veterinary Technology, or a related field.\nInterest in dairy herd management, reproduction, genetics, and livestock technology.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to work in both indoor and outdoor agricultural environments.\nAbility to stand, walk, bend, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.\nAbility to safely work around livestock and livestock handling equipment.\nAbility to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.\nAbility to work in various weather conditions and farm environments.\nAbility to work weekends and flexible
