{"id":2452325,"url":"https://alion.io/job/stirling-dynamics-flight-control-systems-engineer","title":"Flight Control Systems Engineer","company":{"id":4423101,"name":"Stirling Dynamics","domain":"stirling-dynamics.com","url":"https://alion.io/company/stirling-dynamics","size_band":null,"is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"iCIMS","truth_index":null},"role":"Industrial Engineering","role_family":"Industrial Engineering","seniority":null,"employment_type":null,"work_mode":"hybrid","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["Bristol, United Kingdom"],"countries":["GB"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":null,"salary_estimate":{"min_usd":40000,"max_usd":86000,"period":"year","method":"role_country_seniority_unknown","sample_n":690},"experience_years_min":null,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-10-13T15:07:02Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-10-13","last_verified_at":"2026-10-13T23:04:37Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":0,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":0},"description":"Overview\nStirling Dynamics is recruiting an experienced Flight Control Systems Engineer to join our team.\nDue to recent contract wins and supporting continued growth, Stirling Dynamics are looking for a talented Systems Engineer with Flight Control Systems experience to join our Systems & Safety team supporting key aerospace projects in the civil aerospace and eVTOL markets.\nWork at Stirling is not simply restricted to aerospace projects, due to our expertise and scope of supply, our engineers have the opportunity to work within aerospace and marine industries on many different projects such as our own products (flight controls and simulator controls), landing gear design, control system design and expert consultancy/support for our customers.\nThese roles will be based in our Bristol office with occasional travel to our clients’ sites as required however as part of our commitment to flexible working, we also accept hybrid working.\nResponsibilities\nAs part of the Systems & Safety team, our Systems Engineers are responsible for the delivery of systems support to our business and our clients which includes activities such as:\nLeading task identification and definition within the context of the project\nEngaging with customers to understand technical requirements and to deliver results\nSupporting design, development & certification activities including V&V (Validation and Verification)\nPreparation and checking of documentation for the design process\nRunning/supporting/attending internal/external design reviews\nSupporting certification planning activities, test analysis and documentation\nSupporting system and equipment level modifications\nWorking to resolve in-service issues\nPreparation and review of task scope, budget, and schedule for given tasks and projects\nAssigning tasks for projects and coordinating/monitoring the work of other engineers\nIdentifying project technical risks and proposing mitigations\nActing as technical reviewer as part of the DOA within their technical area of expertise\nReviewing completed project documents for conformity and quality assurance\nAssisting upper-level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor\nPreparing technical proposals\nQualifications\nCandidates will ideally be degree qualified in a related discipline.\nEssential skills\nSpecific skills/experience should include some of the following:\nFixed and/or rotary wing aircraft flight control systems and equipment (ATA-27)\nEquipment/system design, development and/or certification for civil aircraft (CS-23, -25, SC-VTOL)\nFixed and/or rotary wing aircraft equipment/system design and development\nKnowledge of ARP4754 - Guidelines for Development of Civil Aircraft and Systems\nRequirements creation and management inc. industry recognised tools such as DOORS, Jama, Polarion, Cameo\nAwareness of industry requirements / specifications such as RTCA, SAE, TSO, ARINC, etc\nWorking within a quality system environment, such as AS9100, ISO9001\nAbility to lead activities within a team, work package creation, management, and delivery\nDesired skills\nThe personal qualities of the candidates will be key to success in this role which demands a self-motivated attitude, a professional approach, and good organisational skills.
