Modelling has never been more important for engineering design, with requirements for reverse engineering, root cause analysis and real time models.\nAs a business, Stirling Dynamics work across a wide variety of projects from significant modifications on civil and military aircraft; development projects for large aerospace OEMs; concepts and feasibility studies for the emerging eVTOL industry; controller actuation development for simulator and flight worthy products and control and automation covering submarine autopilots and flight control laws.\nThe successful contractor will be predominantly based in our Bristol office, although they can work remotely part of the time. The contract will initially be for 6 months with options for further work beyond this.\nResponsibilities\nThe contractor would work on producing models at vehicle and system level representing plant and control algorithms. The Mathworks toolset is used heavily including Simulink and associated toolboxes, and so a good understanding of the use of version control software (e.g. GIT) and task management toolsets is required.\nCandidates will have the following responsibilities (depending on experience):Developing task definition (together with the technical lead)\nDefining model and control algorithm requirements\nBuild and test of models\nPeer review of models\nPreparation and presentation of results, models etc to customers\nFormal verification procedures\nAuthoring model documentation\n\nQualifications\nCandidates will ideally be degree qualified (or equivalent) in a related discipline (preferably Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering Mathematics, Physics, or similar)\nEssential skills\nMatlab/Simulink\nHydro-actuated systems\nElectro-mechanical actuated systems\nMulti-body simulation\nVehicle dynamics\nSystems engineering\nDesired skills\nApplication within the Marine sector\nAdvanced control theory, such as Kalman filters, and state estimation\nReal time models\nCode generation\nC/C++\nFlexible, can-do approach\nAbility to deal with multiple conflicting requests\nProfessional attitude\nSelf-motivated to see tasks through to successful completion\nStrong time management and organisational skills\nExperience\nThe candidate is expected to have industrial engineering experience, using modelling for the development and analysis of complex systems.\nWe are
