Strong fundamentals matter more than domain history. \nResponsibilities\nThis role blends hands-on technical modelling with technical leadership and team support.\nYou will:\nLead the development of system and vehicle-level models, covering plant and control algorithms \nDefine modelling approaches, requirements, and verification strategies \nOwn delivery of work packages or technical activities \nPresent results and technical outputs to internal and external stakeholders \nSupport and mentor junior engineers \nHelp create confidence, clarity and structure within the team \nContribute to planning, task definition, and delivery prioritisation \nHelp ensure teams remain motivated, engaged, and aligned to deadlines \nQualifications\nCandidates will be degree qualified (or equivalent), in a related discipline preferably Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mathematics, and must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of fundamental modelling principles of systems through experience.\nEssential skills\nCore Technical Skills\nStrong experience with Matlab/Simulink-based modelling and simulation \nExperience developing system based engineering models and models of complex dynamic systems \nUnderstanding of:Control systems \nSystem performance modelling \nVehicle dynamics \nMulti-domain simulation \n\nExperience working in collaborative engineering environments using tools such as version control and task management \nLeadership and Behavioural Attributes\nAbility to balance technical delivery with team support \nComfortable guiding and mentoring others \nAble to bring clarity and direction to complex problems \nStrong communication with both engineers and customers \nA proactive, “take ownership” mindset \nExperience\nAdvanced control techniques (e.g. Kalman filtering, state estimation) \nReal-time modelling or code generation using Matlab Auto coding or C/C++ \nExperience across sectors such as aerospace, marine, robotics, or automotive\nDegree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline \nProven experience applying modelling and simulation to complex engineering systems \nWhat do I need before I apply\nDue to security restrictions on the projects, we can only consider UK nationals for this role.\nBenefits\nWorking at Stirling\nBristol-based with hybrid working available \nOpportunities to work across both commercial and defence projects \nA culture that values technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement \nCompetitive package - Grade 4-7, £45,000-£72,500 dependent on experience.\nWe offer a range of benefits to our employees to recognise their efforts.
