You may already have systems engineering experience at equipment or product level, or you may be an electronics or hardware engineer looking to broaden your experience into requirements management, architecture, integration, verification and validation.\nAt Stirling Dynamics, we develop electro-mechanical and mechatronic systems and electronic hardware for aerospace and trainingsimulation applications. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an enthusiastic engineer who wants to help shape electronic controller products from early definition through to design, integration, testing and delivery.\nIn this role, you will support the design and development of electronic controller products for aerospace and trainingsimulation markets. Working closely with systems, electronics, software, gateware, safety, mechanical and simulation specialists, you will help translate customer and product requirements into robust technical solutions.\nFor engineers looking to move closer to hardware systems engineering, this role offers exposure to requirements capture, electronic system architecture, verification planning, product-level decision-making and multi-disciplinary project delivery.\nThe role will be predominantly based in our Bristol office, with occasional travel to customer sites as required.\nDue to the security requirements of the projects, candidates must be eligible to work on restricted UK programmes. For this role, we can only consider UK nationals.\nResponsibilities\nProvide technical input across equipment-level systems and electronic hardware development activities.\nPlan and coordinate technical work packages to support project delivery.\nCollaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams, including systems, safety, mechanical, software, simulation and electronics specialists.\nSupport requirements development, systems architecture, interface definition, integration planning and verification activities.\nContribute to the design, specification, verification and validation of electronic controllers for electromechanical aerospace systems.\nSupport the development of engineering artefacts and technical evidence required throughout the product lifecycle.\nParticipate in technical reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and practices.\nQualifications\nDegree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Systems Engineering or a related engineering discipline.\nEquivalent relevant industry experience will also be considered.\nEssential skills\nStrong understanding of electronics hardware, electronic controller development, or equipment-level systems engineering.\nAbility to work across the full engineering lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through to integration, verification and validation.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured and pragmatic engineering approach.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work effectively within multi-disciplinary engineering teams.\nSelf-motivated, adaptable and capable of managing multiple technical priorities.\nAbility to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nDesired skills\nExperience using requirements management tools such as Polarion or DOORS.\nExposure to DO-254 planning processes, development activities or SOI audits.\nExperience working directly with customers. \nExperience\nCandidates may come from a range of backgrounds including Systems Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronic Systems Engineering or FPGA Gateware Engineering. Experience in one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:\nRequirements capture, derivation, allocation and management for hardware, systems or products.\nEquipment-level system architecture, electronic controller architecture or product-level design definition.\nDesign, development, integration and test of electronic hardware for electromechanical systems.\nVerification and validation planning, test specification, execution and evidence generation.\nWorking within multidisciplinary teams across systems, electronics, software, gateware, safety, mechanical and simulation disciplines.\nPower electronics, motor drives or controller development.\nCommunication interface electronics.\nElectromechanical position sensing technologies, including LVDTs, RVDTs and encoders.\nFPGA-based systems.\nEnvironmental qualification and aerospace standards such as DO-160.\nAircraft certification standards, including DO-178C, DO-254 and DO-160.\nSpace programmes operating within ECSS, NASA or equivalent assurance frameworks.\nBenefits\nCompetitive Package (Grade 6 - 7, £60,000 - £72,500 dependent on experience).\nOpportunity to work on innovative aerospace and trainingsimulation products.\nExposure to the full systems and hardware engineering lifecycle.\nProfessional development and career progression opportunities within a growing engineering organisation.\nWe offer a range of benefits to our employees to recognise their efforts. Playing hard is equally as important as working hard, so regular events are held throughout the year which provide an ideal opportunity to mix socially.","description_format":"text","description_chars":5476,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Professional development"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United Kingdom","iso":"GB","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-13T15:07:02Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":86,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":26,"reasons":["conf:1","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-14T04:50:41Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":95821,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/stirling-dynamics-systems-hardware-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/stirling-dynamics-systems-hardware-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-14T04:50:41Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":6801,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-15T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":4423101},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=4423101"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fstirling-dynamics-systems-hardware-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fstirling-dynamics-systems-hardware-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fstirling-dynamics-systems-hardware-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/stirling-dynamics-systems-hardware-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fstirling-dynamics-systems-hardware-engineer"}]}
