We are looking for permanent employees but will also consider contractors.\nThe Simulation, Dynamics and Control capability provides expertise to both internal and external customers in all areas of analysis but the below are particularly relevant for the role we are looking to recruit:\nControl\nSystem performance\nEquipment modelling\nVehicle dynamics\nModelling, simulation, dynamics, and control has always been at the core of Stirling Dynamics' capabilities, and we have been at the forefront of developing modelling techniques and model-based design activities for over 30 years. Modelling has never been more important for engineering design, with requirements for reverse engineering, root cause analysis and real time models. Within this role you will have the opportunity to work with other like-minded engineers across our Marine business area and support the further development and growth of the business.\nAs a business, Stirling Dynamics work across a wide variety of projects from significant modifications on civil and military aircraft; development projects for large aerospace OEMs; concepts and feasibility studies for the emerging eVTOL industry; controller actuation development for simulator and flight worthy products and control and automation covering submarine autopilots and flight control laws.\nThis role will be predominantly based in our Bristol office with occasional travel to our clients’ sites as required. As part of our commitment to flexibility, we also accept hybrid working.\nResponsibilities\nThe role will suit an engineer looking to diversify or develop their experience and work as a team lead responsible for client management, task development and assignment, developing models of vehicle and equipment level control and monitoring systems. \nThe MathWorks toolset is used heavily including Simulink and associated toolboxes, as well as task management toolsets (Jira and Confluence) to support collaborative working.\nCandidates will have the following responsibilities (depending on experience):\nFully embedded within customer team; interfacing with workstream Engineering Manager to understand project plan, timescales, sprint goals, requirements management and engineering change requests\nDefining team’s tasks for the Sprint to meet objectives, identify and manage technical risks\nCompetency with technical know-how, engineering best practices and quality assurance to ensure delivery\nSupport and mentor team to understand requirements and enable completion of tasks on time\nRunning team Scrum ceremonies (DSUM, refinement, planning, review, retrospective)\nReview and merge MATLAB and Simulink deliverables\nCollaboration with other project teams to align functional implementation and support teams dependencies\n\nQualifications\nCandidates will be degree qualified (or equivalent), in a related discipline preferably Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mathematics, and must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of fundamental modelling principles of systems through experience.\nEssential skills\nTechnical leadership, task management, project risk management\nMATLAB/Simulink\nDevelopment of control systems or software\nTeam lead experience\nCustomer facing/management experience\nSystems engineering\nDesired skills\nApplication within the Marine sector\nRunning projects in an Agile/Scrum framework\nExperience with Jira and Confluence\nUse of Git version control (using BitBucket and SourceTree or similar)\nAdvanced control theory, such as Kalman filters, and state estimation\nDevelopment and running of real time simulations\nCode generation from Simulink or Python\nDevelopment of embedded systems in C++ or other\nFlexible, can-do approach\nProfessional attitude\nSelf-motivated and positive attitude to see tasks through to successful completion\nStrong time management and organisational skills\nExperience\nThe candidate is expected to have industrial engineering experience, using modelling for the development and analysis of complex systems.\nWe are particularly interested in individuals with a background in ANY of the following disciplines:\nHydro-actuated systems\nElectro-mechanical actuated systems\nMulti-body simulation\nVehicle dynamics\nSystems engineering\nFlight controls\nDynamic loads\nReal time models\nMotor control\nVehicle control\nActuation systems\nARP4754\nDO178\nDO331\n\nWhat do I need before I apply\nDue to security restrictions on the projects, we can only consider UK nationals for this role.\nBenefits\nCompetitive package - Grade 4-7, £45,000-£72,500 dependent on experience.\nWe offer a range of benefits to our employees to recognise their efforts.
