Our technology starts with you.\nWe are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Process Engineer to lead and support our Plating and Backetch processes. In this role, you will be responsible for process ownership, capability improvement, technical troubleshooting, and cross-functional coordination to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations.\nThis position plays a key role in driving process optimization, resolving complex technical issues, supporting technology transfers and new product introductions, and mentoring junior engineers and technicians.\nKey Responsibilities\nOwn and optimize the plating, waterjet, backetch processes to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.\nLead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for yield loss, process excursions, defects, and equipment-related issues.\nDefine, review, and improve process recipes, operating windows, and control plans.\nAnalyze process data, identify trends, and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve process capability and stability.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, cycle time, chemical consumption, and operational cost.\nSupport process qualification, validation, and change management for new materials, equipment, and product introductions.\nCollaborate closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Equipment Engineering, and EHS teams to resolve issues and implement improvements.\nEnsure compliance with company standards, environmental regulations, and safety requirements.\nDevelop and maintain process documentation, specifications, work instructions, and technical reports.\nProvide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.\nSupport capacity expansion, equipment upgrades, and improvement projects related to plating and backetch operations.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.\nStrong experience in process engineering within manufacturing, preferably in tin plating, wet chemical, etching, or similar high-precision processes.\nProven ability to troubleshoot complex process issues and lead structured root cause analysis.\nStrong understanding of process control, statistical analysis, and process capability improvement.\nExcellent communication, coordination, and documentation skills.\nAbility to work effectively across multiple functions and manage technical priorities.\nProficiency in data analysis tools and Microsoft Excel.\nPreferred Qualifications\nSemiconductor manufacturing experience in tin plating and/or backetch processes.\nPrior experience in technology transfer, process qualification, or manufacturing ramp-up activities.\nFamiliarity with SPC, DOE, FMEA, 8D, 5 Why, and similar engineering tools.\nKnowledge of chemical process safety, bath control, contamination control, and equipment optimization.\nExperience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives within a manufacturing team.\nKey Competencies\nTechnical leadership\nProcess ownership\nAdvanced problem solving\nData-driven decision making\nCross-functional collaboration\nContinuous improvement mindset\nMentorship and coaching\nAccountability and ownership\nST is proud to be one of the 17 companies certified as a 2025 Global Top Employer and the first and only semiconductor company to achieve this distinction.
