We are seeking a skilled Robotics Engineer to design, implement, and optimize automated systems, including ARVs, robotics, and overhead transport, in a microelectronics manufacturing environment. The role ensures compliance with SEMI standards and involves collaboration with production, logistics, and maintenance teams to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced robotic systems into dark factory / zones.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nThe responsibilities include, but are not limited to:\nReporting: Reports to the Industrial Engineering 5.0 HoD\nProgram Support: Support the ST Malta Sites dark lines / factory automation program, from substrate to final test.\n Design and Development:Develop and optimize advanced robotic systems, including hardware and software components.\nDesign and implement algorithms for motion control, perception, and decision-making.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sensors, actuators, and control systems.\nSupport AMHS operations including maintenance of automation equipment.\nDevelop and implement automated systems (ARVs, robotics, overhead transport). Path routing, material handling, optimization, etc.\nEnsure compliance with SEMI standards and implement safety protocols.\n\nTesting, Validation and Release to Production:Conduct rigorous testing and validation of robotic systems to ensure performance, reliability, and safety.\nPerform SECS/GEM Characterizations for equipment.\nAnalyze and troubleshoot system issues, implementing solutions to improve functionality.\nExecute the deployment of advanced robotics into deployment for dark room / zones.\n\nResearch and Innovation:Stay updated on the latest advancements in advanced robotics and artificial intelligence.\nContribute to research initiatives and propose innovative solutions to enhance robotic capabilities.\n\nDocumentation and Reporting:Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals.\nPresent findings and project updates to stakeholders and team members.\n\nSkills and Qualifications\nThe ideal candidate shall:\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in robotics engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, computer science, or a related field.\nProficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB®.\nExperience with robotic frameworks such as ROS (Robot Operating System).\nKnowledge of Semiconductor manufacturing frontend / EWS / backend\nStrong knowledge of kinematics, dynamics, and control systems.\nFamiliarity with sensors, actuators, and embedded systems.\nExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.\nStrong communication skills and ability to document technical processes effectively.\nSkills:Proficiency in Project Management and Vendor Management.\nStrong Business Communication skills.\n\nTechnical Knowledge:Experience in advanced robot design and development.\nKnowledge of machine learning and computer vision techniques.\nFamiliarity with hardware design and prototyping.\nExperience with simulation tools and environments for robotics is highly valued.Understanding of digital twin technology: A comprehensive knowledge of digital twin concepts, including their architecture, components, and applications, is crucial. This includes familiarity with simulation, modeling, and real-time data integration.\nKnowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML): A strong foundation in AI and ML is necessary to develop intelligent and adaptive digital twin systems. This includes experience with neural network models and generative AI.\nProgramming and simulation skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar, as well as experience with simulation tools, is required to design and test digital twin models effectively.\nCollaboration and interdisciplinary knowledge: The ability to work collaboratively with teams from various disciplines, such as mechanical engineering, software development, and data science, is critical for the successful implementation of digital twin technology.\n\nWe encourage candidates who may not meet every single requirement to apply, as we appreciate diverse perspectives and provide opportunities for growth and learning.
