This role manages accounting functions, supervises financial staff, and ensures compliance with fiscal policies while supporting the hotel’s financial decision-making processes.\nEssential Functions and Duties:\nSupervise the financial department, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, auditing, payroll, and general accounting. \nPlan and implement financial procedures and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance. \nApprove all hotel purchases within budgetary guidelines. \nPrepare financial analyses of hotel operations and manage labor and expense forecasting. \nOversee all hotel cash handling operations and ensure proper procedures are followed. \nPrepare reports outlining the hotel’s financial position, including income, expenses, and earnings. \nMonitor property inventories to maintain optimal levels without straining cash flow. \nTrain management and supervisory staff to read and interpret financial documents such as budgets and P&L statements. \nManage the HR process for the hotel, ensuring proper filing of new hire paperwork, benefits, and disciplinary actions. \nPrepare budgets, financial forecasts, variance reports, and P&L statements. \nEnsure compliance with tax regulations, prepare government reports, and address inquiries from agencies like the IRS. \nCoordinate and arrange audits of hotel accounts and reconcile all operating bank accounts. \nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.\nRequired Experience, Education, and Skills:\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred). \n5+ years of experience in financial management, preferably within the hospitality industry. \nStrong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting. \nProficiency in financial software, accounting systems, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel). \nExcellent communication and leadership skills for managing accounting staff and training management teams on fiscal responsibilities. \nExperience in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. \nAbility to manage audits, tax filings, and government reports. \nStrong problem-solving and decision-making skills. \nAbility to handle confidential financial information with discretion. \nFlexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. \nWork Environment:\nPrimarily an office-based role, requiring extensive use of computers and financial software. \nMust be able to sit for extended periods while performing tasks such as data entry, financial analysis, and report generation. \nMinimal to moderate noise levels typical of an office environment. \nFlexible schedule, with availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet financial deadlines or attend management meetings. \nOccasional need to lift and carry objects up to 10 lbs. \nOther Duties:\nPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the team member for this job.
