You’ll help deliver our product roadmap and improve internal tools that keep Stora running smoothly.\nYou’ll work across a variety of interesting domains: from billing and CRM to public APIs, reporting, integrations, and internal tooling, with plenty of room to grow into the areas that interest you most.\nWe’re looking for someone with experience building production Rails applications, comfortable working across the stack and diving into JavaScript and CSS when needed.\nYou’ll thrive here if you enjoy taking ownership from idea to delivery, and can work independently on well-defined projects while collaborating closely with experienced engineers in a small, fast-moving team.\nYour Responsibilities\nBuild and maintain features, owning them from initial discussions through to deployment.\n\nWork closely with the product team and other stakeholders to shape and refine new features.\n\nDedicate time to app maintenance - we aim for at least 20% - improving stability, performance, and developer experience.\n\nWrite and maintain tests so we can confidently deploy to production multiple times per day.\n\nMonitor, investigate, and resolve issues to keep the system stable and performant as we scale.\n\nCollaborate with and learn from experienced engineers to continuously grow your skills.\n\nOur Technology Stack\nWe take a majestic monolith approach - keeping our Rails app clean, cohesive, and aligned with best practices from the Ruby community. Our stack should feel familiar to most experienced Rubyists:\nBackend: Rails 8, PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq\n\nFrontend: Turbo 8, a sprinkling of React, ViewComponents, Sass, BEM methodology\n\nTesting: Minitest, Capybara, Playwright\n\nPayments: Stripe Connect and Billing\n\nDeployment: GitHub Actions, Heroku\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\nYou’ve built and shipped production Rails applications and know your way around its ecosystem from writing clean, maintainable code to debugging in a live environment. ActiveRecord, background jobs, and the request/response cycle.\n\nComfortable leveraging modern LLM-powered tools to speed up development, troubleshoot, and explore solutions while knowing when to rely on your own expertise.\n\nA testing mindset, with experience writing automated tests in Minitest or RSpec.\n\nComfortable debugging and troubleshooting production issues.\n\nAble to work independently on well-defined projects while collaborating closely with a small, fast-moving team.\n\nClear communicator who can explain technical challenges and trade-offs effectively.\n\nBenefits & Compensation\nCompetitive salary - starting from £50k+\n\nRemote Work - Fully remote within the UK or EU only.
