Stord is backed by top-tier investors including Kleiner Perkins, Franklin Templeton, Founders Fund, Strike Capital, Baillie Gifford, and Salesforce Ventures.\nAbout the RoleStord is seeking a Operations Manager - OPEX to support the expansion of our fulfillment network by helping new and transitioning sites launch, ramp, and stabilize successfully.\nThis role is designed for an experienced operations leader who enjoys being on the floor, building teams, and setting sites up for long-term success. You will travel to fulfillment centers across the network and embed on-site for multiple weeks at a time to support new site launches, onboard and develop operations leaders, and ensure consistent execution of Stord’s operating standards.\nThis is a hands-on role. You will act as an extension of the site leadership team, and at times step in as an interim Operations Manager to ensure performance, continuity, and stability during launches or transitions.\nWhat You’ll Do\nSupport Network Expansion & New Site Launches\nEmbed at new or expanding fulfillment sites to support launch readiness, go-live execution, and post-launch ramp-up.\n\nPartner with site leadership to ensure core processes, systems, and operating rhythms are in place before and after go-live.\n\nProvide on-site support during critical launch and ramp periods to stabilize performance and reduce risk.\n\nDevelop and Enable Operations Leaders\nOnboard and coach new Operations Managers and frontline leaders through hands-on training, shadowing, and real-time feedback.\n\nModel strong floor leadership by running shifts, leading stand-ups, and managing day-to-day execution when needed.\n\nAct as an interim Operations Manager during site openings, leadership transitions, or short-term coverage gaps.\n\nDrive Consistent Execution\nLead by example in executing Stord’s standard processes across inbound, outbound, inventory, quality, and labor planning.\n\nReinforce daily execution discipline and ensure alignment to operational KPIs and expectations.\n\nIdentify gaps in execution and partner with site leaders to address issues quickly and practically.\n\nStandardize and Improve\nDevelop, refine, and deploy SOPs and training materials based on real-world site learnings.\n\nSupport process improvements that drive consistency, scalability, and operational efficiency across the network.\n\nEnsure updates to systems, processes, or tools are reflected in training and on-site execution.\n\nCommunicate Progress and Drive Accountability\nTrack leader progress during onboarding and ramp-up and provide clear feedback to site and regional leadership.\n\nCompile site performance recaps and ramp-up updates, including key risks, wins, and next actions.\n\nDocument visit outcomes and ensure clear handoffs and follow-ups after leaving a site.\n\nBuild Culture and Leadership Presence\nFoster a strong culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement through daily floor presence.\n\nLead through influence, observation, and coaching rather than policy alone.\n\nSuccess in This Role Looks Like\nThis role is accountable for helping new and transitioning sites reach operational readiness and sustain performance after launch. Success will be measured by outcomes such as:\nNew sites ramping to stable execution within expected launch timelines\n\nOperations leaders independently running shifts and core processes after onboarding\n\nCore SOPs trained, adopted, and consistently executed before site handoff\n\nImproved stability of key operational metrics following launch or transition support\n\nFewer repeat escalations or support requests from sites after activation\n\nTravel\nMust be willing to travel frequently (up to ~75%) and remain on-site for multi-week assignments based on business needs.\n\nWhat You’ll Need\n5+ years of experience in a high-volume warehouse, fulfillment, or eCommerce environment.\n\nPrevious experience as an Operations Manager or Senior Operations leader with direct reports.\n\nStrong track record of training, coaching, and developing warehouse leadership teams.\n\nExperience leading large hourly teams (60+ associates) and multiple salaried leaders.\n\nWorking knowledge of WMS systems, RF scanning, and warehouse execution tools.\n\nProficiency with Excel, Google Suite, and basic operational reporting.\n\nClear communicator who can influence across levels and functions.\n\nHands-on, problem-solving mindset with a bias toward action.\n\nComfort working in a distribution center environment with physical activity and non-standard hours.\n\nWillingness to work nights, weekends, and peak schedules during launches or ramp-ups.\n\nBachelor’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Business, or equivalent experience.\n\nNice to Have\nExperience supporting new site launches or rapid network expansion\n\nBackground in startup or high-growth logistics environments\n\nLean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience\n\nBilingual in English and
