This is a deeply technical role built for someone who can be handed any infrastructure problem and own it through to resolution without being routed to a specialist.\nReporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, this role works alongside an experienced team of infrastructure professionals supporting Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, hybrid identity, multi-vendor networking, and core enterprise systems across multiple North American manufacturing facilities. The Senior Infrastructure Engineer brings enterprise-level foresight to everything they build: standardized, scalable, documented, and repeatable, not one-off fixes that only the builder can maintain.\nThis role supports both corporate-office and manufacturing shop-floor environments, where downtime can directly impact production, shipping, customer service, and revenue. The ideal candidate is a technically elite infrastructure generalist who can diagnose and resolve problems across diverse and unfamiliar systems, catch risk before it becomes an incident, and build infrastructure with the discipline and scale of thinking an enterprise organization requires.\nThis is a HYBRID position and will report into our New Albany, IN location 3-4 times a week\nRequirements\nOperate as a top-tier, cross-domain contributor across servers, networking, cloud, identity, and DevOps, capable of taking on any infrastructure problem handed to you and owning it through to resolution without needing to be routed to a specialist.\nAdminister and troubleshoot core infrastructure: Windows Server (physical, virtual, and cloud-based), hybrid Active Directory / Entra ID, Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams), Microsoft Azure, DNS/DHCP, and multi-vendor networking (LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching).\nWork hands-on with automation tooling: CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and scripted deployment and configuration management, in addition to endpoint and access tooling including CrowdStrike, Cloudflare Zero Trust, and Action1 patch management.\nSupport infrastructure across corporate-office and manufacturing shop-floor environments, understanding that downtime in these environments can directly affect production, shipping, and customer commitments.\nEnterprise Foresight & Resource Building\nDesign and build infrastructure resources the way an enterprise organization needs them built: standardized, scalable, documented, and repeatable, not one-off fixes that only the builder can maintain.\nIdentify and escalate potential problem areas before they become incidents. This role is expected to catch risk early and build the safeguards that prevent it from recurring, not just respond well after something breaks.\nOperate effectively in ambiguous or undocumented situations: diagnose and resolve issues on systems without a playbook, then build the documentation and structure so the next person has one.\nExercise sound judgment on prioritization when demands compete, with particular attention to production, fulfillment, and billing impact.\nCross-Site & Cross-Functional Collaboration\nCommunicate infrastructure status, risk, and constraints clearly to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders, without waiting to be asked.\nWork across facilities and functional teams (Support, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering) with clear handoffs, knowing where personal ownership ends and another team's begins.\nSupport integration of acquired facilities onto standard technology platforms.\nDocumentation, Automation & Project Leadership\nDevelop and maintain documentation for infrastructure systems and configurations; close existing documentation gaps across the environment as you touch them.\nBuild automation that reduces manual effort, improves consistency, and prevents recurring service interruptions, applying DevOps practices to infrastructure operations rather than treating automation as a side project.\nLead and execute infrastructure projects and initiatives, including migrations, upgrades, and standardization efforts, reliably and independently.\nParticipate in on-call rotation and after-hours maintenance windows scheduled around production and shift schedules.\nRequired Qualifications:\n 7+ years of progressive IT experience as an Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Administrator, DevOps Engineer, or equivalent generalist infrastructure role.\nStrong hands-on expertise with: Microsoft 365 and Azure\n Hybrid identity (Active Directory and Entra ID)\n DNS, DHCP\n Networking concepts and technologies\n Servers, virtualization, and storage\n\nExperience using scripting or automation to improve infrastructure operations.\n Experience working in a multi-site organization.\nProven ability to independently tackle and solve complex technical problems across diverse domains.\nExperience operating in hybrid (on-prem and cloud) environments.\nExcellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.\nAbility to work a hybrid on-site schedule, typically 3-4 days per week in the New Albany, IN office.\nAbility to travel 15%-20% to other company facilities.\nOccasional night and weekend work may be required for projects, maintenance windows, and major incident response.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nManufacturing or industrial environment experience.\nExperience integrating IT environments through mergers or acquisitions.\nIT certifications (e.g., Microsoft, networking, cloud, or infrastructure-related).\nExperience in regulated or security-conscious environments.\nBachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.\nKey Competencies:\nElite technical range across infrastructure domains: server, networking, cloud, and DevOps, with the credibility to be handed any problem in that set and solve it independently.\nStrong independent problem-solving; can diagnose unfamiliar systems without significant guidance.\nEnterprise-minded builder: designs for scale and reuse rather than the fastest fix and thinks about how a solution holds up after they've moved on to the next problem.\nProactive risk orientation: catches problems before they escalate and builds safeguards against recurrence, rather than only reacting after impact.\nClear, audience-appropriate communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nComfortable operating without a fully mature process or documentation set and building it as they go.\nHands-on experience with DevOps practices: CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and automation-first operations.\nThorough understanding of enterprise IT best practices for security, standardization, availability, and support.\nDemonstrated, verifiable depth across server, networking, cloud (Azure or comparable), and DevOps/automation, not surface familiarity in any of the four.\nBrook & Whittle Ltd. is one of North America’s leading Sustainable Labeling Solutions providers, producing pressure sensitive labels, shrink sleeves and flexible packaging for many of the nation’s leading brands.
