The role involves Windows Server administration, AWS cloud operations, Active Directory management, migration execution, and infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Windows, AWS services, and cloud migration projects.\n\nResponsibilities\nDiscovery and Planning\nInventory Windows Servers, applications, dependencies, file shares, and network flows using AWS discovery tools.\nClassify workloads by migration strategy and organize them into migration waves. Define target architecture, sizing, licensing, storage, VPC placement, and security requirements.\nMigration Execution\nMigrate servers using AWS MGN or VM Import/Export.\nMigrate file shares to Amazon FSx while preserving NTFS permissions and DFS namespaces.\nUpgrade legacy Windows Server versions during migration. Migrate IIS, .NET, and SQL Server workloads to AWS platforms. Plan and execute cutovers, DNS changes, rollback procedures, and validation activities.\nActive Directory and Identity\nExtend or migrate Active Directory to AWS and manage trusts, DNS, and DHCP.\nAdminister Group Policies, OUs, service accounts, and gMSAs.\nIntegrate with Microsoft Entra ID, AWS IAM Identity Center, and automate domain joins.\nAWS Windows Operations\nBuild, patch, and maintain Windows EC2 environments using AWS Systems Manager.\nMonitor performance and troubleshoot Windows-related issues using CloudWatch and native tools.\nManage backups, disaster recovery, and restore testing. Support secure remote access solutions where required.\nAutomation and Infrastructure as Code\nProvision infrastructure using Terraform or CloudFormation.\nAutomate builds and configurations with PowerShell, DSC, or Ansible. Maintain golden AMIs and support CI/CD-driven infrastructure deployments.\nSecurity and Compliance\nImplement Windows hardening, CIS benchmarks, LAPS, and endpoint protection. Manage IAM permissions and enforce encryption standards. Support compliance audits through AWS security and governance services.\nHypercare and Handover\nProvide post-migration support, incident resolution, and root-cause analysis.\nCreate runbooks, SOPs, and architecture documentation for operations teams.\n\nRequired qualifications\n6+ years administering Windows Server (2012 R2–2022) in enterprise production environments.\nStrong Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and file services (NTFS, SMB, DFS) experience.\n2+ years hands-on with AWS: EC2, VPC, EBS, FSx for Windows, S3, IAM, Route 53, ELB, CloudWatch and Systems Manager.\nCompleted at least one on-prem to AWS migration, including server rehost with AWS MGN or an equivalent tool. Administration of IIS and supporting SQL Server hosts.\nStrong PowerShell scripting; infrastructure as code with Terraform or CloudFormation.\nWorking knowledge of VMware or Hyper-V as a migration source.
