The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ownership of contract drafting, competitive bidding, commercial evaluation, negotiations, vendor management, and contract award.\nCandidates should be comfortable working independently and partnering with Procurement, Supply Chain, Legal, Risk, Finance, project teams, vendors, and contractors.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead pre-procurement planning and determine appropriate contracting strategies based on project requirements.\n\nDevelop and review technical specifications and scopes of work with project teams.\n\nDraft contracts, including general terms, conditions, and commercial provisions, from established templates or limited starting points.\n\nTranslate business requirements, scopes, pricing, and commercial terms into complete contract documents.\n\nDevelop and manage RFP/RFQ and competitive bidding activities.\n\nCoordinate commercial and technical bid evaluations and make recommendations for contract award.\n\nNegotiate pricing, payment terms, deliverables, schedules, warranties, indemnification, insurance, liability, and other contractual provisions.\n\nReview and manage vendor redlines, exceptions, and proposed contractual changes through final agreement.\n\nPrepare and issue purchase orders while ensuring alignment between POs, contracts, scopes of work, pricing, and negotiated terms.\n\nLead contract formation and negotiation with business stakeholders, Legal, Risk, Procurement, Finance, vendors, and contractors.\n\nPrepare award recommendations and coordinate final contract execution.\n\nSupport contract administration after award, including change orders, claims, disputes, invoice compliance, and contract closeout.\n\nPerform due diligence on potential contractors and assess technical and commercial capabilities.\n\nIdentify contractual risks and advise project teams on appropriate mitigation strategies.\n\nMaintain strong supplier relationships and support supplier diversity initiatives.\n\nPartner with Legal and Risk Management to resolve contractual and commercial issues.\n\nParticipate in cross-functional initiatives focused on procurement and supply-chain improvements.\n\nSupport continuous improvement efforts designed to improve productivity and reduce procurement costs.\n\nProvide guidance and training to internal business partners and procurement team members as needed.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.\n\n6+ years of relevant experience in contract administration, contract management, project management, project engineering, construction, or related procurement functions.\n\nDemonstrated experience with pre-award contract administration.\n\nHands-on contract drafting experience.\n\nExperience developing contracts from scopes of work, business requirements, and commercial terms.\n\nStrong experience with contract negotiation and commercial terms.\n\nExperience with competitive RFP/RFQ, bidding, sourcing, and bid evaluation processes.\n\nExperience negotiating vendor/contractor terms and conditions.\n\nStrong understanding of the source-to-contract/procure-to-contract lifecycle.\n\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision.\n\nAdvanced Microsoft Office skills.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with large-scale construction, engineering, utility, energy, industrial, infrastructure, or capital projects.\n\nExperience with engineered equipment contracts.\n\nTechnology/IT contracts experience.\n\nExperience working with Procurement, Supply Chain, Legal, Risk, Finance, and project teams.\n\nExperience with ERP or SAP environments.\n\nExperience with Contract Lifecycle Management systems; SMART by GEP experience is a plus.\n\nImportant Candidate Profile\nThe strongest candidates will demonstrate true ownership of contract development and pre-award activities.\nLook for resume experience that specifically shows:\nDrafted contracts\n\nDeveloped commercial terms\n\nNegotiated terms and conditions\n\nManaged contract redlines\n\nDeveloped or managed RFPs/RFQs\n\nConducted bid evaluations\n\nSourcing and procurement\n\nVendor/contractor negotiations\n\nPurchase orders\n\nScope of Work development\n\nContract award\n\nContract formation\n\nImportant: This is not primarily a post-award contract maintenance position.
